Received ours back today within ten working days from posting off a five euro note and covering letter (as per website) from Stadt Koln for the latest car, used them three times before always been OK.

The Umwelt is the sticker which says your car has low emmisions - a requirement for most German cities.  It is valid for the life of the car.  They even gave me one for my VW Tiguan which is waiting to be called in for a mod!!!!  Plenty of discussion on
    this subject in this forum.

Armourer your sounding like my wife! More seriously as per comeyras the sticker is attached to the windscreen to allow entry into many German urban areas without it you may incurr a fine. There are various ways of obtaining one the rip off way are some web
sites costing around thirty euro`s, from some garages locally or by post from various Stads ( town halls ) in Germany.

You can also get them at a German dealer for your car.  You just need your V5 and 5 euros and a couple of spare minutes!

Umlet is a German thing only at the moment.  Just wait until France, Italy, Austria etc have a similar system, you will not be able to see out of your Screen!
