Hi Flatcoat it is the nose weight. is the direct load onto car I have hyhundia santafe 2.2 the maximum nose weight according to the car instruction book is 80kg whereas the same car in manual is 100kg my van is a sterling solitaire and the lightest nose
weight I have been able to obtain is 105kg and that is with loading very much to the rear of van. There is just no way I can meet the cars nose weight. I'm sure it's not good for the car but I do have Five years warranty0 -
Roserene, I'm surprised that there is a difference in nose weight loading between manual and auto. This is normaly associated, I thought, with the strength of the 'chassis' at the back end of the car. I had a problem with the latest Ford Mondeo. The spec
showed it to be 75kg whereas my previous 2012 Mondeo was 90kg whether manual or auto. To cut a long story short, Ford had made an error on their specification details for the 2015 model. This has now been corrected to 90kg, again, manual or auto version. Perhaps
VW have made a similar mistake. It's worth checking with VW direct, (dealers don't seem to want to know / care), and also involve Kelly in the CC's technical department. She seems to have a hot line to the manufacturers and she helped me get the 'problem'
sorted with Ford.0 -

Hi JohnM20.... Interested in your thread re nose weight limit of 2015 Mondeos...Like you said Ford state 75kgs for the current 2015 . My last Mondeo an 09 plate was 90Kgs and wondered why Ford had reduced it...Where did you receive the Ford amendment from
stating they issued wrongly as 75 kegs and is now stated it is 90Kgs.0 -

Write your comments here...JohnM20.... Re 2015 Mondeos downward load limit...Have just downloaded a Ford Motor Company official 2016 brochure and under Mondeo it states in black and white that the maximum download for ALL models Mondeo is 90Kgs so there
we have it confirmed that it isn't 75kgs. So all those thinking it was 75 including myself, can relax knowing we have had the "09" plate Mondeo allowance restored.0 -
Driven manuals only since "Double de Clutching" days. Thinking of changing our Volvo D70 manual for same but auto box. [diesel ]. Any views re towing , MPG. cost, repairs, depreciation etc would be welcome.

Had a couple of V70,s both auto and both petrol and they have towed very well.MPG ? could,nt say i never bothered to measure it.Cost ? not sure what you mean.Repairs ? never had to do anything major and depreciation ? same as any other car i suppose. I,ve towed with every one of the big volvo,s (9 up to now in 37 years towing) and i have never been able too fault any of them to date.

Thanks Peter. Very pleased with our manual V70 best tow car we have ever had, but just wondered if we were missing out on something we were not aware off ref Autos.

I would now only choose auto, apart from a more relaxing drive they actully help with a smooth hill start when towing on roads with loose stone chippings etc. You have all the control offered by manuals, such as descending long hills as you just overide the auto by using the paddle controls to change up or down.

Thanks Tirril, Good info. You might just be converting me, if I think that I can learn how to use an Auto box after all these years !!
