We find the Korando ok to drive, maybe a little basic compared to lot of other cars regarding "gadgets" which my wife and I don't want anyway, great value and we have no regrets replacing our Kuga Titanium X with a Korando EX.Find a dealer and take a test

I will be towing a van with an mtplm of 1600kg and is known to be a difficult van to get the nose weight down below 90kg's, as other owners on here have confirmed. As well as bring a good tow car (which the Korando seems to be) I also look for vehicles which
are a good driver experience, aspects such as handling, road holding, steering feel and feedback and so on. Whilst many aspects in life are a compromise it doesn't mean the 2 criteria cannot be married in the same vehicle. However perhaps a test drive is required
to satisfy my curiosity!0 -
Dealer I bought from fairly local had a Korando with a tow bar fitted as a demo vehicle

Given I have a £17k budget for my next car I looked at the spec of a Korando and noticed the nose weight limit is only 80kg's. This seems low given the other attributes of the car But is theoretically just OK for our van. How do they fare as a drivers car?
That is exactly why we haven't got one despite really liking the car. We have struggled with our van getting the noseweight down in the past and 80kgs is just not enough for us to risk it. We had to change a car a few years back because of this and it
was an expensive mistake so won't risk it again which is such a shame really.0 -
The bigger Rexton model uses same engine as Korando but has a 128 kg tow ball limit, not sure how much they sell for.Haven't loaded my caravan yet to get noseweight down to the 80 kg,managed 100kg with Kuga will play around with it at weekend

I too currently have a Moonstone and it is all but impossible to get the noseweight to 85kg's. Although we are changing to a Quattro EW given the MTPLM is the same i dont want to be caught out again and anyway 80kg's is only just 5% of gross weight which
is at the lower end of recommendations. The Rexton just seems too agricultural and 'old school' 4x4 tech to me.0 -
My problem with the Sanyong is the price of parts. Not a problem whent he car is new. But when it's older it will become one. They are dealer only and pretty scary. Just worth consideration. If your only going to keep it for three or four years it's not
a big thing. Depreciation a bit heavy also. Still considering one myself though as there isn't alot else thats nearly two tons & yet still affordable to run as a daily drive.0 -
5 year warranty attracted me and the depreciation not realy a problem as it's cost me a lot less to buy,all cars depreciate and also cost a lot to run

Just picked up our Korando SE 4x4 yesterday. Going to take the unit out tomorrow for a drive around to see how it feels. Already
noticed how far you are off the ground when driving as my wife can see over short hedges.0 -
Had our EX 2 weeks now but haven't towed any distance yet,we like the car and find it is little higher than our old Kuga. Will get Easter behind us then we'll go off in the caravan

Our "Boot Buddy" dog guard has arrived after 4 weeks,it is a simple design just clear perspex that fits to top of rear seats then firmly attached to head rests,it is model specific to our Korando and we like it as it is very easy to fit/remove.
We've also towed with the Korando and find it does everything our previous car did and think it's a good car and we made right decision buying it

I too have a korando se and i phoned ssangyong about the tyre pressures when towing and was told to increase the rear tyres to 36psi.

Was it the dealer or Ssangyong UK that gave you that advice? Towed my caravan last week with handbook pressures and all went well, will try increased pressure next time thanks for the advice.Does your car have hill start assist? If so how do you get it to
operate, mine has it but seems stange way to use it.0 -
The hand book says to increase the tyre pressures if you are fully loaded or going to travel at high speed but does not give a pressure.
The hill start assist seams only too work only on very streep hills, not like my little Skoda.
For those worrying about the cost of spares, had the first service done last week £213 this included a new air and pollen filters, never had them changed on the first service before.

Thanks for the info on the DPF issue, this only happened once on previous car a Kuga.Still looking for a dog guard, maybe get a cheap universal type till one turns up,may be able to adapt the Kuga one to fit.Yes they are not common on the roads only seen one
recently localy but probably see loads now we have oneWrite your comments here...
it's the old story, you don't see them until you get one. We got our new Korando on 1 April, hadn't seen many at all on the road up to then but on the 25 mile journey home from the dealers saw 4 .
Dealers are a bit few and far between but it may be worth going a little further afield to get a better deal. I saved £700 and 3 free services on the next best price quoted. Servicing is only once a year after all.0 -
I have only seen one Korando since buying one in March, mind you most cars look same to me lol.Very pleased with ours as well made as other cars we've owned, there is an owners club you can join online.
