I was making an observation about it! And has been stated it just might come in useful if a clutch cable snaps and it means you could get home or to a safe place.

....
Now, ask someone who has passed their test in the last 20 years to double de clutch and you will have someone with a blank expression on their face!
Why would they unles they'd bought themselves an old Foden wagon or some other old vehicle (the Foden was a guess), we have synchro gearboxes now on all gears. It'd be like asking someone from today to use a slide rule or Otis King ........ we now have calculators.
I recently tried to logs & antilog tables ....... I very quickly gave up ..... no needWrite your comments here...

Anybody that cannot double declutch should not be driving.
. No synchro on first ,not much on any other come to that nececitating the need for double de clutching and a blip to change down
Don't knock it, Martin, that ability got me home when the clutch cable on my Fiat 128/3P broke miles & miles from home !! A little rough from a standing start I grant you, but hardly a crunch or crash after that !!
Technically ,you werent double de clutching. Because you hadn't any clutch to "Double De " I worked in a garage a long time ago when cluch cables snapped all the time Always drove them back . Not sure if you did this but, always start in 1st gear with starter,
change down in plenty of time knock into neutral before stopping if possible , Drove in traffic as well .Then the starter takes a bashing and the battery . It may be of interest that single seater racing cars dont have synchro on any gears and so .... you
dont use the clutch to change gear anyway ,like motorbikes you use the clutch purly from a standing start . Could mention Toe and heeling and left foot braking as well . Our Tiguan tow car has full park assist and seven speed DSG gearbox ( auto) Auto hanbrake
,which is quite brilliant ,Sat Nav Air con and it talks to the caravan when plugged in What more can i want ... I know My mate has a Landrover discovery which wants to park his caravan as well and shows its view on the dashboard . Mind you these days I get
into the car and think now where's that switch thats parks it and how many times do i have to press it . Bugger I'll do it myself .!0 -
Martindf3, I never actually claimed to be "Double De-Clutching" but I couldnt stop my, by then, unemployed left
hoof from going thro' the motions !! So the Ability was used I reckon, but I aint going to argue since, these days I'd just call out Green Flag !!0 -

Doesn't harm the car at all unles you get the timing wrong. In fact you can get away without using the clutch at all if you know what you are doing & understand how the clutch & gearbox work.
Same can be said about parking aids of course, but it does make life much easier....
