Has any one had screen washer fluid loss in their CRV? My 2014 car suddenly started to lose screen washer fluid  from the nearside headlamp washer - I have never knowingly used them! Apparently it is a known `o` ring problem and Honda issued a TSB to the
garages in June last year saying that this would not be  accepted as a warranty claim as it is caused by hard water in the UK. So my screen washer  leaks  if I fill it above a certain level which I have to guess. Can this be acceptable? Thanks John

I'd guess that you squirt/wash your headlamps when you clean your screen if your lights are on .... I believe some Mercs wash the headlamps after so many screen washes but the cars I've had with headlamp washers washed every time I cleaned the screen - when
    the lights were on.

Is it acceptable? I'd say definitely no, not on a car that's so new, whether your water is hard or soft.

I had similar with my 2006 CRV, but dealer fixed it FOC while doing other work. Or they offered to disconnect the pipes, as it did use a lot of screenwash in winter! Hard water? I live in Scotland, so that's nonsense from Honda. Problem can be caused by
    not using appropriate screenwash.

My X Trail headlamp washers work every 16 times when the lights are on. Just as well as they seem to use gallons. Surely wether or not it is a warranty claim should be assessed when they do the job, not all UK water is hard. Also I thought an O ring was on a join, why should this start leaking due to hard water? I can see how it might affect a valve if deposits stopped it closing.

Thanks. I have collected several litres in a container as it continually drips from a point just in front of the nearside front wheel. It is coming from an `o` ring connection to the headlamp washer - confirmed by the Honda dealer. They can`t fix it and
it needs replacing BUT Honda won't pay. It leaves me with a part that is not fit for purpose!

Threaten them with trading standards. "Not fit for Purpose" and be prepared to follow it through.

Can have the desired effect just by the tthreat.

I`m sure they can fix it by replacing the o-ring. I`d call Honda customer services.

I`ve had three Hondas and have had to call customer sevices twice. On both occasions they`ve been very good. It helps if you`ve had a history of Honda ownership (not sure why but on both occasions they`ve asked if the car in question was my first Honda...).
    They`re on 0845 200 8000.

I`d just explain very calmly that you purchased a Honda based on their reputation for reliability and that it`s sad that your dealer has been unable to rectify this problem.....

If you get no joy then a call to What Car might be in order....

Thanks, it is worth knowing that they do react to phone calls. I will try that and follow up with a letter if it doesn't work. The dealer is keen on supportng me!

That's even better. You need to mention that the dealer is in full support of your claim. I had the name and number of the dealership master technician when I called them.

    Good luck.

Haven't had the problem with my 2011 model.  Is it a particular year/model affected.

Yes, it seems to apply to `4th generation ` CRVs -  2013 onwards according to the TSB issued by Honda, so something has been changed with the connection in the washer unit that causes it to be affected by hard water. It is therefore `not fit for purpose`!
