I have just bought myself another Chevrolet Silverado Pickup truck and someone has said that I cannot use it on Caravan club sites, ( i'm pretty sure when I had my last truck same as current one only longer bed I didn't have any problems, and stayed at a few sites ) the current truck is a extended cab which seats 5 and allows us to carry our bikes with us can someone please confirm or deny that it's OK to use

Many Thanks Eamonn

Can't see that should be banned from a CC site any more than another other big 4x4. It looks big enough that you could tow the site to you!! Cool

A customer where I work, I mentioned i'd bought a American pick up truck and he said commercial trucks and vans were barred from Caravan club, thought it was strange,  hence asking here

Definitely a wind up, or at least out of date information.  I have seen many American  pick up trucks on CC sites, mainly pulling large 5th wheelers. Especially at Chapel Lane Birmingham.

But also on others, even sign written vans towing caravans are accepted (they did used to be banned) don't  know when the rule changed.I think they have to be parked in the car park though, once unhitched. But pickups are fine.

There seem to be several 'myths' which keep returning like this one, VOB. Trouble is some believe them whlist others just want to stir it up for some unknown reasons! Rest assured,I m sure  your double cab pickup will be welcomed as I've seen many similar ones on sites.

I think many Campers think of the CC as snobby  and having too many rules, so, pass those prejudices  on. Never found it Snobby, and find the rules give a sense of security. (Perhaps that's just me ?) And the silly rules, like sign written vans vans not
being allowed, have been consigned to the bin, where they belong. Having to park them in the car park, means no-one has to stare at the side of a van when sitting out.Which is fair.I think American pick ups look cool (whatever that means ?).

Just confirming that the Caravan Club no longer bans liveried/commercial vehicles on their sites as, for many people, their business vehicle is also their towing vehicle.

Thank you for all your replies, I have always found the people I meet onsite to be friendly and helpful which is why i thought i'd check on the forum to see if i had been miss informed, Happy that i can use the truck as it means we can bring our Bikes and
my trike with us .. compensates for the fuel consumption on the truck lol which isn't really that bad and it is on LPG too lol , roll on our next break now where to go ????  near or far ?   Thanks Again People

The CC are no problem but if you use a commercial site then it is best to speak to them first.

I think someone is winding you up VOB - I tow with a Toyota Hilux and last week at Poolsbrook there were 3 of us with Hilux's, one VW equivalent and the ubiquitous Range Rover or two.

No one has ever commented on my choice of tow vehicle, with the exception of a Range Rover owner who was dismayed that I'm getting a lot better economy than he was .

Nice truck by the way !
