Towbar for Skoda Octavia
Looking to have an Alko Towbar, with twin electrics fitted to my Skoda Octavia. Have read reports that it may effect the reversing sensors. Has anyone any experience of this.Thought about a detachable one, but would rather have it fixed.

I had a Skoda Octavia up till September last year, Elegance 1.9Diesel 2007. The electrics were the twin 12n/12s type, which were on a standard plate attached to the tow-bar, through the 2 bracket bolts. When the reverse gear was used, then the sensors would
activate when the van was attached, which is normal. I could never switch the reversing sensors off from any switch within the car. The newer models might have a switch that would do this.I only switched from a Skoda to a Toyota rav4, because the body weight
of the Skoda was a lot lighter than my Elegance. I am towing with a Lunar Quasar 462.If your Skoda is a new car then you have to be careful that you do not invalidate your warrenty by fitting a non specific towing kit.0 -

That's down to the competence of the installer & cost of installation. There's various bits of electrickery available that can tell the car you've just plugged a caravan in & to knock off the reverse sensors and/or rear fogs.

You need a Skoda dedicated wiring kit, and a fitter who knows what he is doing, with my Octavia I did not take the option of sensors, but still had dedicated wiring put in. Why not get it wired to a 13 pin socket for future changes? just put a 13 pin double
entry plug onto your caravan, easy job to do0
