Are they all comparable quotes? Are the quotes for fixed swan necks, 2 bolt flange bar, Witter/Towsure vs Bosal/Brink/Westfailia. Is the wiring via a proper loom or will it be by by-pass relays & a handful of Scotchlocks? Will 'earths' be at the original
earth points on the car or will drill your car & use self tappers/drillhead screws?0 -
i usually negotiate the price of the towbar in with the price of the car and never yet had a problem.
It's not a problems as long as you get what you wanted or even knew what you wanted in the first place. But to say that towbar place A is cheaper/dearer than towbar place B is meaningless if you're comparing apples with bananas. And if you negotiate a towbar
into the price of your new/next car, the selling garage is more likely to fit the cheapest he can get away with which isn't what I'd want.0 -
i think you will find that land rover dealers usually fit a quality product with the correct loom as when fitted with the car they get the 3 year warranty
I think I find that ....... I'd no idea at all where you buy your cars from ..... I was talking in general

I used Indespension for a Westfalia removeable swan neck.
If I remember correctly it was fitted before Easter and, as they were quiet, they gave me a great price and did an excellent job

I had a Westfalia detachable bar fitted at Indespension and, whilst they did a fantastic job in the actual fitting, they wired it incorrectly not taking into account new instructions from VW. Result was a car only three months old that had to have a new battery after having VW research the reason for the flat battery which they traced to incorrect wIring. This was after paying extra for the model specific wiring kit.
Had to involve Indespensions HQ as there was a £350+ bill from VW in sorting it out. Certainly I wouldn't use the Derby branch again.

I to had a problem with Indespension in Derby. They wired my Insignia incorrectly. Lost all lights on way to Lake District had to get Greenflag. Cost me over £100 to get a temp fix in the area. Never got my money back from Indespension. Never use them again.

This has the advantage as tbe dealer now has to guarantee the work. The problem can be manufacturers items are the minimum spec and you need to be sure this is enough. The major problems seem to be non compliance with the needs of ALKO hitches and electrics
unable to handle LED lights.0 -
