Octavia Estate 4x4 2.0TDi 140 engine, depending on road type, country lanes to motorway, between 33-37 mpg caravan mtplm 1,313kg, very good engine, smooth with good torque. Solo around 60'ish on good long runs.

Iain M will be along soon to tell you about his previous Yeti, lives in your area, may help you with towbar fitter (other post).

Yep had a 170TDi from 2012 to 2014 .... great car.  I towed 1400Kg with mine and got about 30mpg towing.

I have a Tiguan with the same engine.  Towing 1500kg is a dream and average 28-30 on tow.

The Tiguan is much heavier than a Yeti......

I am considering the Tiguan as a replacement for our Qashqai 4X4 auto.  The Tig is the only car which ofers 4X4, auto, increased luggage capacity, generous kerb weight/towing limit and all without being too long.  Every other car I have researched is about
a foot longer than the Tiguan.  They are not cheap but appear to have a good build quality.  I have not driven one yet but hope it proves as comfortable as the Qashqai.  We want comfort over sports car performance.

This may help, I have just changed from a new in 2012 Tiguan SE TDI to a Freelander.SD4 HSE. I never towed with the Tiguan but can state that it was a great car., and build quality was perfect. and it never missed a beat in the close to 4 years we had it.. The only issue I would point out was, on ours, the 7 speed DSG gear box was not as smooth as a normal auto and it did tend to, when very hot after sitting in a traffic jam make the odd quite harsh/clunky gear change in 1st & 2nd.. Don't get me wrong, it was fine just how they are in my expirence.

I will also add we love the Freelander and it tows like a dream.and is a better car in my opinion. Some say the boot space is limited but for us its not an issue as we have 2 Border Collies that own that bit when we out and aboutHappy
