I have had 2 DSG cars (Passat and Tiguan) and never had any problems.  You will find towing with an 'auto' (Yes I know MM!!) to be very relaxing especially if you also have Cruise Control.

There was an issue a few years ago with the DSG box software which could result in it lurching forward suddenly (or alternatively killing the engine) when rolling up to such as a traffic island. Don't know if this has been cured.

The DSG 'box does need a fluid change/service every 40k miles, many of the problems with the DSG are because owners (especially fleets) neglect that service (it ain't cheap).

Re Woody's comment, never experienced this - my Passat was a 2009 model.  And Flatcoat; yes, but that is 'normal' maintenance which any careful owner should do!  TD, did you get a service/maintenance history when you got the car?  If you don't know, any dealer should be able to check if it was done by a Skoda workshop..

Towed 11000` with a DSG never had any issues with it the last price which might be out of date was £140 for an oil change, as flatcoats post it is important it is done.
