Hi we have a Korando SX 2013. Both me and my partner have towed our sprite musketeer TD4 since we changed towcar in May and must say was pleasantly surprised. Our last towcar was a Kia Sportage which always did a good job but we found they have become quite
expensive, as have many 4x4. Being on a budget found the Korondo 2.0 TD 4 reasonally priced. Rear seats also have different recline position which is handy for those with pet cages. But recomend you buy spare wheel if not 1 as the come with the standard inflation
kit for flat tyres, not really practical when towing. We also got slighty better fuel consumption. (summer journey from yorkshire to devon) I also think it would be advisable to check if caravan is a match first. Ours is only 22ft and lightweight. I would
definetaly give it a THUMBS UP .

Just purchased a Korando 2.2SE. Not towed with it yet but did a test tow at October NEC show. Test drive the 2.0 version earlier this year. Love the car - practical, efficient and with as many fetures as the Sportage we had before. Would reccomend it.

We've had the 2.0 SE4 for six months and it has covered 9000 truble free miles, towing a Sterling Eccles Sport for over a Half of that. Changed from twd Sportage best move I've done in a long time.

We have towed with the 2l Korrando since March 2012, so almost four years now. Like the posters above we also changed from a Sportage. Best tow car we've owned for both performance and value, would be interested in whether the 2.2l is an improvement. I would
say ignore the "badge police" and go for one.

Hi  all,  I know its not a korando but,  if you want a lot more pulling power take a look at the Rexton.  I own 2015 Rexton W   pullingl a twin and have no worries concerning  weight problems.  Its very smooth and quiet with a comfortable driving position
for long distances.  Fuel consumption  is average for a automatic.

I also have a Korando SE 4 purchased new September 2015 we have towed quiet a bit so far and I can recommend it much better tow car than my previous vehicle as the engine is very torque at the right speeds and
fuel consumpsion towing is fine it also has a good kerb weight my car came with a space saver spare as standard and this can get you home until a repair is done however I will buy a full size spare as their is room under the floor. If you buy this vehicle
i think you will be pleasantly surprised just match the caravan and car correctly we have a 2011 lunar Quasar 544

Thank you TeamThompson for raising this discussion as it is helping me in deciding on replacing my current car for a Korando.

Also thanks PeterDD as for your comments as we've recently purchased a 2015 lunar Quasar 544, so its good to hear what you thoughts are of a Korando pulling a lunar Quasar 544.

Write your comments here...I am about to trade my korando in for a rexton (need the 7 seats plus extra tow capacity)

I noticed in tow car reviews that rexton gets marked down for a poor performance in the lane change test & reviewers report that it has a poor ride qality ( you feel every bump)

what do you think about this?

Im toying with the idea of getting spring assistors fitted to try and help this?

We bought a 14 plate Korando ELE4 back inAugust last year, and so far been impressed when towing the Caravan. We got our first caravan in April last year which is a new Swift Celebration 554, but we had to tow it with our 10 year old Honda Accord.  The Honda
was ok to drive but it only had a 1500kg limit.  Was going to use my work van but it got written off before we picked up the caravan last year, so we looked around during the summer when we found ours at a local Kia dealer funny enough.

Hi. I have driven ssangyong vehicles for towing many years and they have never let me down...however I was not sure going down in size to the korrando with my van would be the same. This was short lived when my car dealer offered me one with a tow bar for
as long as I wanted to tow my van..I wasn't greedy just had it for a day to tow my unicorn lll just like my other cars tows like a dream.....so anyone not sure find yourself a car dealer and ask to use it for a day. It will put your mind at rest.....Good tow
    car.......David

Good contender in the small/mid SUV class, good torque at 400nM. But two different pages on specs on the UK site show the Auto as 400nm and the other as 360nm torque, as if the max torque output has been reduced because of the limitation of the Auto box. Undecided

The Korando was the CC towcar of the year 2014 in the under £16000 class. SsangYong cars did well in last years tests.

The new 2.2 engine is quoted at 400nm across the range, the 2.0 engine is 360nm and is still used in the in the Korando Sport pickup. The 2.2 Euro Vl engine was introduced late last year.

    Really helpful post this......

Seriously considering one of these based on both price and towing capacity. Have to admit, i've never heard of them and my 'badge stigma' was making me nervous!

    Thanks All!

Nip down to your nearest ssangyong dealer & test drive a few models. You will be surprised, as for badge stigma you will get over it. You get a lot of car for your money with ssangyong cars and a 5 year limitless warranty.

     .....

Just remember to turn the automatic wing mirror folding off when you have the caravan mirrors on

That's the problem I have with my Merc ...... it's faster to remove them though rather than find the right menu to turn them off on the dash cluster, though I happened to discover that if I lock the car with the passenger door open, then the mirrors don't
    fold.
