Is the Swordfish pub/restaurant still going at Lee on Solent? We used to live up the road on Rowner.

Haven't been down that way for years but the pub had a major fire in 2004 and has been replaced by a small housing development named Swordfish Close. At least the historic Fleet Air Arm connection has been maintained.

We tow our Lunar Ardingly with a 2011 2.2d CRV with no problem.  We van all year round and never had a problem what ever the conditions.

My CRV got us and the caravan out of an exceedingly deep muddy field with ease and never slipped an inch, I was amazed. Also, our car towed better on motorways and dual carriageways when the cruise control was on.

I have a 2011 CR-V  2.2 CTDI-Pulls an old but heavy ABI Award  - no problems or issues at all

Had it remapped to 187bhp and torque in excess of 424ft/lb

28/29 mpg towing depending whether I'm going norf or souf!

39/41 mpg solo with 130k on clock.

Nothing to moan about at all.

424 lb ft I don't think so, you may well have your Nm mixed up with your lb ft. 424 lb ft would trash your CRV's mechanicals.

Considering they produce around 251 lb/ft of torque as standard the increase of 173 lb/ft from a re-map is amazing...

My CRV was very good car, but it did have the common CRV failing of soft rear suspension. Correct balancing was crucial. Also be aware of the chocolate clutch assembly; a new clutch and flywheel was £1500 - 90k miles. Not isolated to Honda tho'.

As a matter of interest has anyone towed with the 1.6 version ?

I bought one very recently. Only one medium towing trip and one short. Tows very well.

The 1.6 engine performs similarly to the 2.2 I had previously but is even more flexible. Stable and unflustered on motorway when towing. The suspension is a bit softer than the previous one I had, but doesn't seem to affect the handling.

Pulls solidly with 4 people (solo) at 1500rpm.

I have the 9-speed auto, first auto and very impressed! Very smooth changes, keeps engine in the range 1500 - 2000 rpm, lower than I would have chosen, but car performs well like this. Need to put foot down firmly to provoke it into changing down, but then
it will change up as soon as the pressure is off.

In Drive I think it keeps the engine revs too low when towing (stressed engine with water and oil pumps turning slowly) so I use the 'S' mode (not sure what the 'S' stands for). This keeps the revs mostly between 2000 and 2500 rpm. This means it pulls fuss-free
all the time, and settles at about 2000rpm at 55mph, changing down occasionally on slopes.

There is a manual mode, but using 'S' mode, I haven't found the need for that - and that is what I wanted to get away from by buying an auto!

The first gear is very low, so should make starting on hills when towing easy, but I haven't stretched it in this respect yet.

Too early to be sure about fuel econmy, as it isn't fully run in yet, but looking at least as good as the old 2.2.

Usually Sport .... ie your gearbox will generally hang on to a lower gear for longer - as you would in a manual

MTPLM is 1247Kg (Bailey Orion) but it probably isn't as heavy as this in practice.
