Retrofitting central locking / alarm

My 2004 Lunar Champ (Fiat Ducato based) has no central locking or alarm / immobiliser. I see several retrofitting kits on the internet, but has anyone successfully fitted one? And what about including the habitation door? Would it be worth the time and effort?

Thanks,

Pete

Hi Pete were you at Putts Corner a couple of weeks ago?

Not sure about the central locking but an alarm can easily be fitted as can an immobiliser, try Vanbitz or a local dealer, google Motorhome Alarm Hertfordshire and see what it brings up.  We have a Laserline alarm retro fitted with 3 doors covered (hab,
gas & garage) plus ithas volumetric and internal PIR sensor.  Works with the factory fitted immobiliser.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks. I saw Vanbitz on the internet. They seem to have a lot of goddies.

    Cheers

    Pete

www.autowatch.co.uk have a rather nice alarm system and it can also control door locks from a remote keyfob. Have a look at their site. Loads of info. You can also buy SH Central Locking parts for Ducato Doors on EBay. The habitation door is going to be even more difficult. You need some way of getting the wires to the door and then into the door. They wil have to be protected or you fit the 2 pin connector that fits in the modern door jams. Spring loaded contacts one side. Two flat plates on the other. You are also going to have to work out how to get the door apart. Might be worth checking if the same door came with locking unit and if it can be bought as a part. You could also try the MH Breakers.

Which ever way you do it it's not going to be an easy job. Lots of wiring and tracing wires under the dash.

Fiat Forum also has info about fitting central locking to a Ducato.
