Truma Combi 4 Heater
Hope this subject has not been posted before. We are in the process of changing our MH the old one has the Truma convector heater/fire as well as the blown air heating but the new one will have the Combi 4 sited under the french bed, has anyone any comments
or experience of this system with regard to noise issues if used at night in cold weather. Thanks

We have a Combi, not sure if its 4 or 6. Ours is also under the fixed bed and I would say its a pretty quiet system. The is a boost mode for initial warm up but that doesn't stay on long. When in bed with the heating/water on there is very little decernable noise to be heard at the sleeping end whilst on electrics. Slightly more noise when being operated on gas as the the vent is in the rear of the motorhome.

David thanks for this it would appear my initial thoughts of it being too noisy at night are unfounded. Regards

I hate background noise any time, let alone in bed.
One reason I ditched an Elddis order (there were many), in favour of the Bailey was not to have the noisy Whale space heating. Still expected to use an oil fired radiator at night though. But no, despite being under the bed, the Combi 4 is remarkably quiet at night on slow speed, really pleasantly suprised.

The Whale makes a right old racket in my Bailey caravan
For some reason I can tolerate it if it's on all the time (perhaps I think I am on a ferry) but cutting in and out wakes me every time. You can get some sound baffles but they don't really make much difference.
I just get good sleeping bags.

We have a Combi 4 in our wardrobe. It's vitrually silent as far as I can tell, except when it's initially starting up. One thing to keep in mind, if it's under the bed, you will probably feel the warmth through the mattress. Not bad on a cold night but
if you like to be cool it could be an issue.0 -

Thanks all for this, the comments about the heat rising from beneath the bed are interesting as the MH we are looking at is situated under the fixed bed.

My husband quite likes it as it keeps his feet warm. I'm glad it's not on my side as I like to stick my feet out and keep them cool

, Hi Tony,,is that a 'tube heater ' ??

Hi, it's a Dimplex MPH 500 small box heater. it is a convector heater, quite light and easy to regulate, a lot cheaper some years ago ! I see they are about £50, but our is over 10 years old now and been in constant use (On cooler nights !!)
Most oil heaters are two or three times the weight, and take a time to warm up and cool down.

Yes, we are aware of the heat, under what is my daughters bed. Not a massive problem and ideal in winter, but not on a hot summers night.
So I operate the water heating on the timer in summer.
Programme it to go off early evening so we use all the hot water before bedtime, and the Combi is then cool. Then programmed to come on before we get up, so nice and hot for morning ablutions.
Works well.0 -
