Swift Escape 622 Towbar

Has anyone had any difficulties getting a Towbar for Swift Escape Motorhome ? Mine is a 622 2016 Model . It has Chassis extensions  for fitting  Tow bar , however finding it hard to get anybody to fit one . The couple I have found , quote well over £1000
fitted ! This seems expensive to me .

    is the towbar for towing a car/trailer or for attaching a clamp on bike rack or similar...?

    the reason i ask is that, if for a bike rack, Al-Ko make one called Sawiko which slots directly into the chassis extensions without the need for a separate towbarHappy

    That seems a good system, saw one on a motorhome in Austria. Although our e-bikes are not that heavy it would certainly be easier to load them on a lower rack. They seem a lot cheaper than a towbar mounted one.

    i wanted to attach a motorcycle rack to the Tow bar , also to double up as platform for carrying Awning etc .

    ...then talk to Al-Ko and see if the Sawiko will slot straight in...

    they also do uprated ones for electric bikes or even motorcyclesHappy

    You need to be very careful that you don't exceed the rear axle weight. May I suggest that you take the van, fully laden with all the things you normally take on holiday including water if you normally travel with water in the tank, to a public weighbridge and weigh it with occupants included. This will give you an idea as to how much spare capacity you have to accomodate the weight of the motorbike and towbar. I too would suggest looking at the Sawiko system and you may also find the SV Tech website helpful.

    As said above, taking a look at the SV Tech site is worth while.

    It is easy for a 100Kg load (including weight of the towbar) to become 125 kg on the rear axle and the front axle 25Kg lighter.
