Wonder if anyone out there has got a new Ducato and is having Sat NAV Issues.

Picked our new M/H up last week and all was OK. Stayed at the dealer on Saturday then Sunday programmed it and set off. Stopped for lunch then at a NT house and it then packed up and seemed to get lost. Looked at it when we stopped and when trying to enter
a new destination it said unable to find a valid position.

Reset it to factory default and still the same. Went to a Fiat dealer who had a look and said it may be the aerial but here were no faults showing in the log but most likely needed a software upgrade but he did not have time so needed to book it in, reset it
to factory from his laptop. In the GPS status screen there were no satellites showing.

So drove off and hey presto it worked again, all well and good. Stopped for lunch and again it failed, no satellites in the GPS status screen.

Resigned that it needed to go in thought I would book it in when I got home to the local dealer. Driving home on Tuesday and all of a sudden a few miles from home it kicked into action again and lots of satellites on the GPS status screen mmmm. Emptied van,
had lunch and got in to take it to storage yard and guess what nothing.

Booked for the 7th July but wondering if anyone else had anything similar?

michael, i assume you are referring to a dash mounted, built in device? probably a tomtom?

most stand alone devices (i have two tomtoms) have a built in sat aerial, whereas it sounds like you might have an external aerial which seems to be a bit dodgy.

if the device doesnt know where it is (the function of the aerial) it cant calculate any routes....my guess, check the aerial or its connectivity.

    good luck.

Yes BB its a built in one Fiat UConnect (Tom Tom maps) so the aerial is in the wing mirror I think but its so random.

If it's a case of weak signal , as opposed to been sold a duff unit.  You can buy gps re-radiating aerials.

The power is taken from the power / ciggy socket, there is a reciver about 45 MM. square which can be mounted either internally or externally (Useful for, cities, canyons, and forests) and a reradiating arterial you can mount near the sat nav, or its aerial

A web search for ;   Re radiating aerial gps for car.  Should come with something. About £35 on amazon, l think.

Write your comments here...it's a brand new vehicle so is under warranty so will get Fiat to sort it out just wondered if it was a common problem.

Hopefully it is a solve-able problem, some older fiats sometimes had unknown electrical interference problems that killed sat nags, gps on cameras and radios. This also seemed to parallel a problem with the cab battery losing its charge over a week to ten
    days.

Fiat did address these problems as they were discovered, on the models before the current face lift and engine mods.

Let us know how you get on.

It sounds like you have the UConnect 5 Sat Nav unit which is built in. Fiat Dealer would not touch anything that was added. I have a UConnect Unit sitting on the shelf in the shed. It's a load of junk. You can only put POI's in one at a time and map updates
are when Fiat decide not when Tom Tom release them. It's a very stripped down version of a Tom Tom. As I said earlier mine is sitting on the shelf in the shed as I have replaced it with a Blaupunkt Android Sat Nav. Far better piece of kit. Never did find the
Fiat sat nav ariel. You could of course be having trouble with a connector thats not pushed together. You can get the unit out with two ben pieces of coat hanger in the holes in the front.
