Portable TV
I have been looking to replace my motorhome TV. There are adverts in the club magazine for complete Freesat/Freeview HDTV complete with intergral CD . one company has a two page advert for such a product that to say the least is expensive. There is another
company adverising a similar product but arround £100 cheaper . The cheaper unit is available from good stockists. I looked up the website and got an address in Glasgow. Turns out although he stocks this same companies range of arials he doesnt stock the TV
because he recons they are a waste of money anyone got any thoughts on this. I want to get rid of the recievers and free up cupboard space

Exactly the reason we went for an Avtex combi. As it has built in digital and and Free to Air receivers there is a complete lack of gubbins to be dealt with. The downside is if you want to use Sky when you don't have much choice but to have a separate box.
Avtex are certainly in the higher price bracket but you have an excellent product with a good picture. May I suggest you check out the John Lewis website as they sometimes have offers on the Avtex range.David

I think it depends on you and yours, and the use you make of the m/v really. I'm using a 10" from Maplins at present but its got no text service and not a great number of Freeview Channels. I do have a purpose
bought Avtex freeview tv / disc player but so far I've never bothered to take it with me on my trips
'cos the titchy one is just so very easy to pack at night & if I move 'tween sites.Brian

At the end of the day, you get what you pay for with these. I tried several and ended up with the Avtex. The picture quality and especially the sound vs. cheaper units. Autotune function is the best I have tried as well.

I have also changed from a Cello to an Avtex, you do get what you pay for. The Cello or Enox as mine is went back twice to the importer/manufacturer for poor sound quality issues. I didn't rate their aftercare .
Mind you I haven't had to try the Avtex aftercare yet as it has performed exactly as it should.

Must say I was not that happy with Avtex aftercare either! Soon after purchasing a TV the remote developed a fault. They suggested sending it back for repair, which I did, never saw it again and never had any replies to my calls to ask after how the repair was proceeding. My last attempt to salvage the situation was to ask for the code to program a replacement one. Never got back to me about that either!
