You can use straps over the top but pads on these to save paintwork look a good idea!

Mickysf,  that's exactly what we did.  We used a nylon rope and added a length of bungee to the end of each rope to keep it taut.  We also threaded a short length of pipe insilation in to the rope to protect the paint where it touched the corner of the roof..

Do you have a wind out canopy fitted to your Bailey?  If you do there may well be an awning channel fitted to the front of it, that's how I attach my awning.  If not it's most likely straps over the top method.

firstly, sorry for the delay! thanks to all who replied, im new to this mh lark and didnt think about an awning . i was offered a wind out one as part of the deal when i bought the mh but having had one on a caravan before which flipped up in the wind i
wasnt too keen but i didnt look into attaching a driveaway awning until our first trip away and now realise i need a rail of some kind ! think ill try fixing one with guy ropes over the van and pegged down on the other side as im not too sure about drilling
holes in the side of a new van
