Towing Eye for A Class

Well, got stuck for the first time at Donington this weekend as no hard standing left. I should have used my gut feel and parked on the roadway but the warden had a tractor "just in case"... nearly got off....  slip mats useless...

So, ensue a bit of tractorage, smash hand in trying to remove toolkit from under drivers seat, open toolbox, retrieve towing eye....... erm......

So Burstner Aviano on Fiat Ducato chassis... transpires Fiat hold two models of tow hook... one for the original vehicle and one longer to accomodate the coach build... WRONG ONE ON VEHICLE!!!!

Check yours before you actually need it now!! Easy part to source, just so annoying!

This also came to light at the Peterborough show, fortunately those with the right length towing eye came to the rescue and loaned them out. I imagine it is a fairly standard piece of kit and could also apply to other models other than Fiats?

As peedee's says, it was apparent at the Peterborough show and help from others was required. My Hymer has the longer tow hook, and it seems those Hymers at Peterborough did. When I went to use ours 18 months ago, we found the tow bracket itself was not
tightly bolted to the van's frame. Fortunately, it was just enough and we've fully tightened the bolt since.
