Silver screens will they fit
Another question
We currently have a 2005 peugeot boxer based compass avant-garde 200 and our new mh is a 2016 peugeot boxer based elddis autoquest 155 but in a majestic trim by marquis
My question is will my 2005 silverscreens fit the new van I know they say upto 2006 but was just wondering/hoping that this was a marketing ploy and the dimensions are the same I can't seem to find any dimensions on the net thanks for any help

Hi
No they won't fit, the cab doors are shorter and the screen is deeper, get them sold on ebay!

JK is absolutely right. It will not fit as these are totally different body shells.

If you are buying a new screen buy the longer version that covers the bonnet vents. The picture below is one made by Taylormade.

David that's the one we are going to get
I take the extended version is there to stop water running into the engine bay

Which is something the X250 Ducatos/Boxers launched in 2007 were prone to leading to recalls and modifications.

Being a bit thick here but given that you have an internal screen what s the purpose of the "silver screen"? Winter insulation? You can see we are new to motorhomes!

We are also relatively new to motorhoming but yes they help with insulation in winter also keeping the van cooler in summer and reducing condensation

Thanks for the clarification. Will see how we get on in southern France next month.

The cab tends to be the coldest part of a MH, HG. Neither the pleated blinds nor other internal screens will prevent condensation in anything other than warm weather. Although more of an effort to fit, the external screens will both insulate and prevent condensation, as has been said. An essential piece of kit in my view and either Silverscreens or Taylormade will do the job well.

heres a wild guess.....you wont need them
however, in the uk, in winter they will certainly help.
we have an insulated double thickness blind that slides down from the roof which has been sufficient for us here all winter...
even on our Bolero, i didnt bother with external screens (we just used the Remis ones inside) and we just went to Spain instead

Don't forget they are also useful in hot weather to keep the heat down in the van which is often magnified by the windscreen. If that is not a concern and the fact they let in quite a lot of extra light you could well do without them. We use ours all year round unless staying over night somewhere when we just use the pleated blinds.

one thing you could try P & K is to phone the maker/supplier of your original covers, they might and I did say might do a part exchange perhaps.
May I add that mine are "Taylor made" covers and as well as being the longer variety as mentioned by David Klyne, they have the secondary Mesh over the wind screen so that even in very bright sunshine/high temperatures you can have a fair degree of shading while still having good visibility!!

Where we park out M/H on the drive the sun shines right in to the front ,so I use the internal silver screen to stop the sun causing any damage ( fading) to anything , the sun always shines in the south
We also get plenty of sun, HD, so we pull the blinds....though not an external one.
also, with the alarm set, there is a blue flashing light and with the blinds open at night, it looks like the cops have arrived...

We reckon our silver screen is the best buy we've made, followed closely by duverlay mattress toppers. We use our winter and summer removing only when driving off site - definitely get the fold down version, I'd quite like a privacy screen when we replace.
We have used our secondhand one continually even when ours is stored, for eight years and it will probably get us through this season0 -
Will second that Bakers
We did make the mistgake of buying internal screens initially, these gave us a condensation problem, turned to external Silverscreens after about two trips, hey presto no condensation. We still use the internal when parked up at home to keep out sunlight and prying eyes...
In my opinion, these screens are the best thing we have bought, would recommend them to all. We also use them all year round...

There have been many posts on internal versus external screens and also Silver Screens (a brand) versus Taylors. Consensus would appear to be that both Silvers Screens and Taylors are good if you want external. Internal screens dont work as well (see above
re condensation) but can be useful in warm/hot weather to provide privancy and shade. We actually have both including insulated panels for our rear windows. We tend to use the S/S in spring and winter and the internal screen in warm weather.0 -
You buy the appropriate screen for the base vehicle. It matters not who the converter was.
Take a look at the websites of Silverscreen and Taylormade and you'll see the options.
