Milenco door lock
I am looking a fitting a milenco sliding door lock to my M/H any pitfalls I should look out for when fitting ,or are there better ones to fit??

Have you thought about one of these? Can't say how it was fitted as it was done by our dealer.

We have a Fiamma door lock fitted on our van. It isn't like the one David has, it is a kind of square shaped one that turns round to cover a part of the door it is quite small but is sturdy and in my opinion it would take some force to break it. I don't
know the cost or how long it took to fit as it was already on our van when we got it.0 -
I fitted one like Francis describes above about 6 weeks ago. I got it off the website where you 'win' things yet still have to pay for them for £30 ish, fitted it very easily with the three scews provided and some quality sealant. The model I bought screws
through the doorframe and sits inbetween the door frame and the edge of the door. As long as you have enough gap for the bracket it's very easy. I think they do another model that bolts through the side of your van but I didn't want to attempt that myself!

I like the look of David's as it dual purpose.
I always think locks only stop honest criminals!
Those devices for stopping the window latches being opened - do you know how easy it is just to yank the windows open and break the catches or nip onto the roof and pull open a skylight.
They have done a load of garages locally recently, they have been lifting the roof tiles, dropping in, then using tools in the garage to remove the doors from the inside.

I agree with you CJ to a point, I just thought for £30 or so it might stop the opportunist trying their luck at a service station or something. If they want to get in there's plenty of ways to do it given the time and conditions.

Not saying you shouldn't fit them - just to be realistic in your expectations (which you appear to be).
Which was why I likes David's as a dual purpose device

I don't know if it applies to the door locks but the profile is important if fitting a frame lock (which we needed to do on our van as the fridge is behind the wall next to the door).
I used a contour/profile gauge to make up a cardboard jig which I could offer up to both Milenco and Fiamma products before buying. The Milenco fitted perfectly but the Fiamma would not have fitted at all.

Good point , i might look at fixing something inside ,as an extra lock on the door............
Write your comments here...H.D ,I have posted this before for security.A Dog 'choke chain' secured to the inside entry way with a small bracket ( ships chandlers) ,then with a 'snap hook' to the inside of the habitation door .It's good at night too ,for extra peace of mind and security .
