Hi Reason I ask because we are hoping to change to a motorhome because of Health reason, still waiting for the operation, it been cancel 3 time, But I find it hard work now with the caravan loading up and car as well then you got all that work again at
the other end, and I'm not to do any heavy lifting, Doctor order !! shame I can't even put up a Awning now, But been looking at motorhome for sale on web site, seen a few we like,
What was your reason, Thanks Elsa

We had caravanned for many years and loved it but we got fed up of having to push the van in and out of the drive, drop steadies, fit towing mirrors etc we find the motorhome so much easier and more convenient. We go away now more than we did with the caravan.

We changed because my health was not as good as it was. Caravaned for 14 years and enjoyed every moment but I was finding it more and more hard work. A motorhome is so much easier. It's not so easy to get out and about with a motorhome if you have a larger
one, as you have no car but we can live with that as most of our trips are short breaks. We also have far more nights away now than we did when we had a Caravan.0 -
I changed in 2001 because I could not get what I wanted from a caravan without changing the whole outfit, car and caravan and even then it would have been a compromise. I wanted more payload and a better layout, it wasn't because I wanted to change the way
I toured. I am now on my second motorhome and have no regrets. As I have got older I have grown more into the benefits of owning a motorhome.

To travel much more and more conveniently!
...and to be able to stop at many more convenient places (not necessarily sites).....aires/stellplatz etc

Don't use it like a caravan it's not. It's a totally different way of life. We park up in car parks where allowed, we park on the road in quiet spots and also use pub stops. We use it for transport when we are away. Don't fill it full of stuff. Keep it
simple. We can usually pull up and get the kettle on in a couple of minutes. They don't have to be totally flat and it is possible to live with a bit of a tilt. Try www.wildcamping.co.uk if you want to find places to stop.0 -

Pretty well sums up our reasons too. Plus I never towed, but I do drive the MH. Travelling is so much easier, as is setting up on site.

We changed from caravanning to motorhoming to give us more flexibility to tour and for days out either as a base for leisure pursuits such as walking and cycling or for the more leisurely pursuit of spending a day at country fairs.
Three of our motorhomes have been 6m long, three have been 6.3m long. Size was an issue. Driving a motorhome is easier than towing a caravan although that wasn't our reason for changing.

We made the change a year ago and have never looked back.
In our opininion, its an easier set-up and break picth routine and as we like to typically move on every 4ish days the motorhome made more sense to us.

We changed from a caravan to M/H 3 years ago, don't regret it as we never stayed long in one place even with the caravan. i wouldn't tow the caravan but I am perfectly happy driving the M/H. Quicker to set up and pack up between sites, no awning to lug round
the van then fall out with OH putting it up, just a simple hook in and twist the pole and its done, no more arguments Very handy for going out
for a day taking bikes etc. and like others we usse it way more than we did the caravan. Oh and no lugging water around.0 -
We went back again, after two caravans we went to three motorhomes (coach, "A" and panel ) over 12 years but got weary of the uncomfortable ride and noise in the end, give me the ride of a large luxury car anyday! I will concede that motorhomes have improved
a lot but you can never get rid of the rattles completely and if unlucky with build quality its even worse.0 -
Love the motorcaravan but if our needs change and the circular 'touring' we plan is no longer possible we would consider going back to a caravan. But tugging to those overnight or couple of day stays we do in the remote areas of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and Europe is really not feasible or pleasurable in my opinion of course.
