Auto Sleeper Peugeot servicing cost
Our Auto Sleeper Nuevo (Peugeot Boxer based) is approaching two years old and we are contemplating its First Service - as required by the warranty.
We'd really appreciate any advice about this particular minefield - whether to go to a Peugeot maindealer or to a Peaugeot approved garage, and what you all think it should cost!
Thanks.

Let me put it another way.....How much do you think I should expect to pay for my Auto Sleeper Nuevo's first service?
I would appreciate some guidance on price, having been warned that it is possible to be ripped off by garages.
Thanks in advance.

This crops up fairly regularly...... The two year service will be quite expensive, over £400 is not uncommon.
Many debate about whether to have an interim service at 1 year ( I did) which is basically an oil & filter change.....
Also much written about not needing to take it to a Peugeot garage to maintain the warranty, again for simplicity I did, less scope for a dealer to argue in the event of a warranty claim...

That's interesting and helpful, thank you.
So far, I've been quoted £251 by a Peugeot main dealer and £300 by a Peugeot approved local garage. Looking at the details of the service, £300 is clearly pushing it!
And £400 clearly a rip-off!

Our first Fiat main dealer service last February was £266 including parts and VAT. We had it done at 18 months because we needed a small warranty item done and we we were doing low mileage so an oil change was becoming more desirable. Fiat use a fixed price
service menu so I expect Peugeot will.0 -
Taken your advice and rang around for quotes.
One Peugeot main dealer wanted £259 and another, which appears to be a branch of the same firm, quoted £367.
We're getting it done by a local approved garage for £220.
Certainly worth the phone calls.

I assume that you are getting a separate habitation service and you are just asking about the base vehicle service? You need both to maintain the AS warranty. Our AS dealer will do a combined service but they take the vehicle to a main dealer for the Peugeot part but I don't know the price.

Yes, that's right. The habitation check is a separate expense and will be carried out by the AS dealer where we bought the vehicle.
So that's going to be a total of around £500 just to keep the warranty alive -- money for old rope!!

Well I agree that it is more than a caravan but then there are two parts to it. If you bought a prestige or foreign car you would find sometimes that servicing can be costly. A Porsche (Dream on!) will cost you £700 minimum. At least modern engines are every
two years. The habitation check includes things like the gas system and electrical which are quite important.0 -
We get both the hab and cab service done at our dealers. I have investigated having the cab service done locally but the Peugeot garage can't accept a vehicle the size of our Bailey. Some days you would be lucky to find spave for a car!!!! We do have a
local Fiat commercial garage who could do the cab servicing but they can't do MOT's on smaller vehicles!!! I therefore just bite the bullet as If I look outside of MK the drive will be further than the dealers which is only 24 miles away.Hitchglitch, just check the service book about oil changes. Mine says that if you do under 6000 miles a year it needs an annual oil change.

Good point David. Many people do recommend an annual oil change including our dealer.

Is that because of the assumption that low mileage equals short stop/start trips? Low mileage on a MH may be because it is only running perhaps 80-100 days a year whereas the manufacturer's expectation is of daily use.

We just had the hab check done on our Bailey MH - the dealer is also a caravan dealer, and charges significantly more for a caravan hab check than for a MH. (Maybe they have to look at chassis etc?)
