A well known caravan repairer in Lancashire reckoned (2 years ago) that Swift would be his first choice because he regarded their after sales service as the best. However, we are presently thinking about a Bailey Unicorn.

Customer service good or bad is normally down to the "point of sale" ie dealers, once they have your money,

An independant repairer we know says that Swift are a nightmare to deal with for parts(he thinks its because of the amount of parts they need to keep their dealers sweet),

One thing that is bad across all makes is dealers that if you do not buy from them ,do not expect them to rectify any warranty work,

remember that when looking for a "deal"

We are on our second damp free Bailey some friends are on their third (reason we bought our first)

Only faults they and we have had are from bought in equipment, mostly from over the channel

    Repeat after me

There is no perfect van except Bailey,

There is no perfect van except Bailey etc etc

To be honest if someone put a gun to my head and said you have to choose between a Swift or a Bailey I think I would choose a Bailey, I think that the plastic interiors of Swift group are to my eyes horrid.   Alternative opinions do exist.

Assuming the clubs survey is eventually published they might answer your question based on a very large sample rather than a few individual opinions. If you look at the PC surveys over the last three years then there is nothing in it for customer satisfaction
although Sprites do far better than either.

On dampness though the laast survey had Swift under 10% but not clear how far. Bailey were aparrently over this but again the exact figure was not given.

All LVs as posted by several, are mostly in the eye of the persons who are looking,

And as for which is best there is not a make anywhere in the world that IMHO would be able to hold their hands up and honestly say they have produced perfectly no problems vehicles,

Its just we all wish for perfection in exchange for our money,

.Surveys are only a guide hence in you post ."Sprites do better than both" yet Sprites are a "cheaper"Swift, where as a Bailey is a Bailey

Why simply a choice between these 'vans? There's Coachman and Lunar as well, to name but two more

Bailey owners all tend to be 90 years of age. They're chintzy, have an old persons grab handle inside the door, have the battery in a stupid place under the floor, can't be bothered to make the bathroom window opaque and look odd. Need I say more.

    Swift every time

We have a Swift, our 2nd. Would be very tempted by a Coachman if there was a dealer nearby, they look superb.

This might seem strange coming from someone that owns a Bailey motorhome but four of our previous caravans were from the Swift stable, all purchased new and each kept betweem 3 and 9 years. We were perfectly happy with them. They have changed construction
methods since we last purchased so I don't how they have performed.

4-months into owning a new Bailey Unicorn - few niggles quickly sorted but otherwise very pleased with it. No better, or worse, built in my opinion that the Elddis we had before or our friends Lunar and Swift.

Find a van you like and go with it.

FWIW I'm not 90 and given I never need to access the battery I'm more than happy with it being under floor out the way

...Even more reason then to buy a Bailey "SAGA" van or pitch near one as there is less chance of having "problems" with the neigboursWink

...but surely the 'market' you refer to, only buy vans that will last, like Hobbys and Fendts......for that reason, theyre tough....Undecided
