Is it possible to take the cassette enclosure out of the side of the caravan to thoroughly clean it? In situ there are areas that aren't accessible.

    the short answer must be 'yes, it can' (in the case of a total replacement required) but there are a few electrical connections, along with water pipes to consider....

    id just get in there with a good 'wet wipe' type cleaner, not spraying too much water/chemicals about.

    you can get it (the cassette compartment) pretty clean this way.

    also, remove the cassette, and you can reach in through the toilet hole to get at places to clean...

    additionally, try the Lidl/Aldi gel tabs in lieu of propriety fluids in the cassette and after about four/five uses, ypull see all the limescale disappear from the inside if the cassette....ie, self cleaning...

    thanks - tried that with Lidl wet wipes. On closer inspection there a a few bits to disconnect so probably not - a good idea to go down that road. I can have another go when we get home.
