Clubman SI hot water
We have a 2016 Lunar Clubman SI. The handbook states there is a seperate hot water button on the Power Supply Unit for hot water without the need for the heating to be on. We push the switch it lights up but no hot water, we have been told that we need to
push the space heater button and turn the temperature down to get hot water this does not seem right can anyone help.

Hi,
I also have an SI and yes I had the same problem. After speaking to my supplying dealer I was told that you do indeed need to have both the HW and Space heating button turned on. Also the temperature range needs to be in the middle setting. If you need hotter
water turn the control up but after 30 mins. it will switch off if not returned to middle setting. I questioned this as 'not loggical' and dealer agreed but said this is the way Lunar have wired it up.Must say we are into our 3rd week away with the new van and all is well and seems to work well in this unlogical way.
Our other 'problems' are: Bed when travelling flies up as the struts seem to be too good so we have reverted to putting our awning on bed when travalling. Front locker is great but after rain if lifted windows get wet and water pours into front cabinet.
Just had some rain and the 2 footsteps on front cowling 'store' the rain well, also the frony and rear grabhandles recesses love to store the watre. Who designs theses items??? Don't seem to have these probs with new cars.Am pleased with the new van but just frustrated with these stupid niggles.

As far as I am aware this is normal practice for the Alde heating system. It was certainly like that in my 2012 clubman and the same for my 2016 Delta.
You can download the Alde manual from their web site.
http://www.alde.co.uk/manuals.php
You soon get used to the Alde system and it is much easier to control with the new touch screen than the previous screen.

MrGarval, I too have a 2016 SI with the same problem. It's not much of a problem as the slightest bit of weight keeps it down, BUT it does have a lot of side to side movement. My dealer has requested a replacement (only 4 screws hold it in place). If the
new frame is the same as the existing my dealer and I will modify the frame ourselves with some sort of bracket to hold the bed down and also stop the side to side movement.I would also like to add that I have emailed the lunar rep several times now about this, and received no reply, shame because the wife and I are really pleased with the van. Also the touch light in the bathroom only works if all the lights in the bathroom
are on, strange as the light in the bedroom area works independently!0 -
Re: “As far as I am aware this is normal practice for the Alde heating system ...” I don’t know about these settings being “normal for Alde heating system”
as in our Bailey Unicorn Cordoba you only need EHU, fill the system with water and switch on the 230v main boiler switch to get hot water at 55deg c, no matter what other settings are programed into the Control Panel.0 -
Boff – does you control panel not allow you to A) turn On/Off the circulating pump. or set the Electric Heating Element to Off/1Kw/2Kw/3Kw . or C) set the Gas to ON/Off, all independently of the other settings?
As long as I have EHU and my mains 230v boiler switch is On, with water in the system, if I set these to Off, I get Hot Water only without having to alter the Heating Thermostat setting.

Assuming this is Alde heating being discussed........
The boiler, which supplies both heating and hot water, will be wired to only one MCB or circuit, so the 2 switches or buttons that most heating systems use are not needed. We found that one of ours was not controlling anything. Once you know, it's OK, but can be confusing at first.
If you fill the van water system, the Alde will heat the water constantly, as long as you give it some sort of power. There is a mains symbol and a gas symbol on the control panel, so you need to turn one of those on. If using mains, you also need to select 1, 2, or 3kw. You also of course have to turn the boiler on at the control panel.
If you don't want heating, set the temperature to something like 15 degrees or less. When the heating is running, the pump symbol will show on the control panel.
If you want hotter water (e.g. to mix with cold to give you a longer shower) then select the water boost function. This boosts the water temperature for 30 minutes, but during this time the heating will be turned off.
There are several other useful features on the system such as the "battery back up", the "night set back" and the "load monitor". Some of these features may require to be added as an extra.
Study the handbook carefully, all the instructions are in there.
You cannot expect to understand how it all works if you do not read the instructions.

I've read the destruction book but have only so far managed to suss the top row of symbols .... I need another session for the bottom row. Can you turn the hot water off completely?

The way Boff's system works sounds identical to ours.
The pump comes on automatically if space heating is called for, so if you do not want/need space heating, you set the temperature to lower than room temperature. We find around 15 degrees is fine.
Once the space heating has achieved the required temperature, the pump goes off automatically.
We can also set it for "constant pump" but never do this. Not sure why one would want to use that feature.
Electricity can be off/1kw/2kw/3kw. Gas can be on/off. Both independant of anything else.

If you do not give it gas or electricity, it will not heat anything. There is also a boiler on/off switch.
But if you fill the water system, you cannot have CH without HW.
You can run the boiler without filling the water system, so then you can have only CH.

Thank you all for your replies, just as a footnote our bed also fell apart after a few weks, completely unusable from June. It's being completly replaced including bed surround. We also have the stupid flat light in the bathroom that only works when the
bathroom is lite up like a funfair. Shame Lunar won't talk to buyers of their product on the phone.0 -
Micky and others. I just do not understand Lunar. They have a brilliant van here BUT why can they not wire up the shower room light correctly! They can illuminate the grab handles, why, who is going to have them on at night, I also, as mentioned previously,
have problems with the bed frame, but it is very comfy.l have emailed Simon, Lunar sales exec, several times now. He has not had the decency to even acknowledge my emails. Come on Lunar, I know that as a customer I should be dealing with my supplying dealer BUT for good PR, talk and discuss things with your
customers. It can only be good for Lunar and for your customers.0
