Leisure battery loosing charge

Just some off the cuff hints:
The charger is not working or despite being new the battery is defective?
My first checks would be:
Has any mains plug into the charger worked loose?
Has any 230 Volt fuse to the charger blown?
Has the charger to battery 12 volt fuse blown.
I would then put my multi meter onto the battery, and with my wife switching the EHU supply on and off note if the battery voltage lifts whilst power is on.
Is the battery showing more than 10.5/6 volts? Under, is indicating a probable cell failure, but you might need to rest the battery to do this check constructively.
If nothing found I would remove the battery, and put on known charger, in my case a CTEK unit.
If still no hint of problem, borrow any known good battery and recheck how the voltage responds to the EHU on/off test. If it does not change considerably then the charge unit is itself defective. If it does it reconfirms the original van battery is defective.

It certainly sounds that the charger in the 'van is simply not working when you are hooked up to mains. Normally the charger would be on whenever you have EHU. Ocsid has told you how to confirm this. It is then a case of determining where exactly the problem lies. It could be power not reaching the charger; poor connections/fuses; faulty charger; ….........

Thanks for advice Ocsid, fuses, connections and cables ok. When we got back home with the caravan being connected up to car. This has now charged the battery back up.
May be something is draining the battery. could it be alarm or tracker? If the van battery charger is not working, as seems possible, then everything 12 volt you use will be draining the battery. Water pump, heating pump / fan, lights, radio, TV booster, as well as the alarm / tracker. Our van is kept in storage with the tracker
and alarm active and these take 6 to 8 weeks to drain the battery.0 -
Sounds like a charging problem to me. I'm not familiar with the van but control units often show charge/discharge current, when plugged in it obviously should show a charging status.

I have a similar problem and wondered if you had any luck in finding the root cause? I however have the added problem that the master control panel if offline, even on a new battery.
