Just had 1st service on our Bailey pursuit 530-4, we purchased from new 29th Sept 2015, van is less than 12 months

it went back to dealer begining of August for issues, which they had the van for 10 days to fix,

now the service has shown damp around the toilet. really am dissapointed.

Our first ever van . and nothing but issues in last 3 months

It seems that far to many new caravans have this damp problem and it's across all makes. It must be really annoying particularly if you have had other issues as well.

You need to have a conversation with the dealer.

Its up to them to put it right. Don't let them tell you its the manufacturers problem.

    Good luck.

I have had my German Caravan (Fendt) for 12 years with no problems. It can be achieved. As cabbienick says vote with your money.

We're comparitively new to caravanning - 4 years now.

We had damp in last van (Elddis) and have had a few niggles with new van (Bailey). Talking to friends who started caravanning at similar times, they have had issues with Lunar and Swift vans.

I don't believe you can buy a UK van which is perfect - it's luck of the drawer how bad the issues are!!!

UK caravan manufacturing seems to be where UK cars were in the 70s - and look what happened there.

Our next van will be a European built van - just looking around them they are so much better built IMV. Unfortunately there wasn't one which fitted our current needs this time around.

As I have read many times, surely it is the role of both caravan clubs to be raising this.

We had a Fend 2 berth caravan for four years - no damp.

    The workmanship was superb.

The only reason we sold it was the poor cooking facilities - no oven/microwave.

    A first class caravan!

Our Lu ar has had no isdues in two and a half years. Accordi g to the PC Survey you have a 40% chance of a fault free caravan with Adria, a chance somewhere in the 20,s with the rest except Eldiss who are just under 20%. Not good but that is the result they
    got.

I had damp problems on my new Swift at second service  by  a Swift registered mobile  service, he was on the ball and with my letter addressed to the CEO of Swift, the van was returned to Hull by myself  and collected by myself with the cost of an overnight
hotel and mileage paid for by Swift. I would have thought that a responsible manufacturer would  deal with the problem better than a dealer.I think we all know some dealers are not what they are reputed to be.Not only was the damp corrected, we were given
a full report of what had happened and what the repair was and a couple of other little snags that we were not aware of had been sorted as well it was like receiving a brandnew caravan again.More than happy. I have read on hear that many dealers had not repaired
up to the correct standard of the manufacturer. These things should not happen but when they do it is good to receive help and  support from the manufacturer and I can ceratinly say Swift did owners proud with their  bring in and repair service when problems
    were identified..SG2

Brand new Bailey 2 big leaks,a lot of money spent should have kept the old van.Dealer and Baileys not happy with both of them. But they have the money and are not bothered. Both leaks repaired roll on the third

Write your comments here...where in hull was it taken sailorgirl I'm hoping you arent saying motorhimes and caravans ltd are good? We bought our first van from them last Octwas told the ekdis xplore was the lightest van kn the market.  Three weeks after
coming home from our firsg outing from new the wheel came kff and wrote the caravan off.  M and c said "leave it with us we will sort it it will be a write iff so willbea new van".  That was last Oct, we finally get our replacement last may, take it out again
immediatdly, ring them  withina week telling them if fsults, enouh to fill two sides of a4, they tell us to take it back when we get back.  We explajn prob wont before 3 months no prob they tell us.

My husband goes in at the end of the first month with the list, tells them we are still away for another two months, again no problem.  We ended it a month early took it in not a scratch on her.  We tell them we need to have the hitch lock and the wheel
lock on for insurance ok they saysite it up around back and let us hve key whendone.  Two weeks later they tell us caravan fixed.. but they couldnt fix thetabkeas kt wasout if warrenty.  We go round and find not only werethelocks off and the hitch lick but
thedoor was unlick too,and there is a lovely big scratch on the outside they argued they saw it there when we took it in and took photos of it at 9:30 am we arrived late afternoon.

We now find we havedamp in thefront storage under double bed, but cant figure out whreit is coming from.  Not sure what to do .. as dont trust motorhomes and caravans ltd...
