Bailey Alde Heating
I have a 2015 model Valencia and the thermostat diisplay on the control panel reads way high. Using separate digital thermometers in the lounge and bedroom the readings were 23 degrees in lounge and 22 in bedroom area but the control panel insists its
30.5 degrees and switches the heating off. dealer says this is normal due to siting of control thermostat. Any one else have this problem?

Yes to a degree ! - ours often needs adjusting by about three degrees, you can do this in the settings, that said if yours really is seven or eight degrees out that sounds odd, do you have the kettle near the control panel ?

It's easy to adjust, press the Menu button, touch the spanner icon, touch the thermometer icon and adjust the offset up or down as required. I think I am correct in saying that unless you have the backup battery fitted the setting is lost when the system
is powered off.0 -
I think in the series 3 vans the controller is above the work surface, so can be affected by appliances that are plugged in. In our series 2 Cadiz it is by the door. If anything in that position it under reads by a degree or so, which is fine with me, so
I don't bother with the offset. I would agree the sort of variation the OP suggests, unless caused by a kettle or something, would be very odd and probably indicate a fault in the controller.0 -
The boiler is mounted almost directly below the control panel, I dont actually know were the temperature sensor is located but it appears the boiler, sensor and control panel appear to be too close to each other to monitor the true temperature of the
interior of the van.0 -
The sensor is in the control panel

Your Alde wall mounted controller has a number of very small plug in wiring connectors at the rear. One will accept an Alde temperature sensor wire which is 2M long and plugs into a remote sensor. This kit is available cheaply on the Internet. If you look
at your Alde manual you should be able to see which connector to use on your controller. While ordering the parts you might consider buying the battery backup accessory as mentioned by KjellNN.0 -
Thanks every one any more coments will be appreciated too.

I just bought a new Swift a couple of weeks ago and it is fitted with the Alde system and i noticed the same thing, the system was reading about 25 but on the main panel the reading was 19 degrees, had a quick poke around and saw the offset settingswhich
I assumed was a way round it0 -
Bought a new elddis affinity 4 wks ago & have the same problem. Tried to set timer but did not work had a reading of 30.5 but had it set at 20.5. Ive read the book. Ive reset it but it seems to have a mind of its own comes on when it feels like it.I asked
the dealer about it but did not have a clue told me to get in touch with alde which I have not got round to yet.0 -

The thermostat for the Alde heating is in the control panel and behind our control panel was an array of electrical wires and the radio which were all naturally omitting heat and thus the control pamel was always showing temps way higher than reality.
I bought the 2m lead and thermostat of web and fitted it neatly below top locker box near front of van away from any heat source... result is excellent.
At the same time I bought and fitted the battery backup which makes life so much easier than reprogramming regularly.
These two items are easily fitted to the control panel by even a novice

I would be interested in details of what remote sensor to buy.
We have the battery backup fitted and it just holds the settings so you can use the Alde system like a domestic system with a proper time clock.
I dont know how to post a link but if you search for
Alde Discrete Temperature Sensor with 2m cable Alde code 3010 - 346
a well known online caravn parts supplier will show up with the item. This is for the Alde 3020 heating system I dont know if there are different ones for different systems. I rang Alde and they told me what one to but
