Television interference
we have a eldis 362 caravan. In may we decided to have an extra socket and tv aerial connection fitted by the wardrobe door,so we could sit facing inwards into the van to watch tv.Every time the tv is on and either the water pump comes on,or we put the kettle
on,or switch either water heater or space heater on the reception of the programme goes off.If i hold the internal aerial pole for ten seconds the reception comes back, this happens quite frequantly, before i go back to installer of new aerial socket and power
point has anyone any ideas what the cause is.I think the new socket was wired into same line as water heater and space heater wiring as it was easier to fit. thanks carlos

You need to establish if there is a fault with the new wiring. I would suggest temporarily running an extension cable from the original mains socket to the new location for the TV to see if you get the same result. Then you could run an aerial cable from
the original TV aerial socket to see if that improves things. The 'holding the internal aerial pole' part suggests it could perhaps be an earth problem somewhere, with your EHU cable perhaps. I would suggest testing all sockets with a mains tester to ensure
they are all wired correctly.0 -
Thanks for your comments,we have not been out in our caravan for a few weeks but will certainly check out what you have said. Many thanks. Carl and Jan.

You do not state whether the television is powered from 240v AC mains or 12v DC from the battery. This will affect suggested solutions.

We always use 240v when using the tv.Its a strange one,not going out in van again till november.Thinking of using original connecting up.ie Plug the telly into the socket at front of caravan, and same with aerial and see what happens then.I am going to look
at van in between going off to see if their is a bad eart connection somewhere.??? Thanks for replying. Carlos.0
