Sticking window rubber seals
Our 2004 Lunar Stellar caravan is in excellent condition, but we're having problems with some of the double glazed windows sticking to the rubber seals. We have to apply pressure to a corner of the window to break the grip to open it. Although the seals appear to be in good condition, heat from sunlight causes the rubber to become sticky. We've tried silicone, french chalk & talcum powder, but after a few days the stickyness returns. Any suggestions without having to renew the rubber seals would be greatly appreciated.

Ravenscar,as you are from NY take a trip to your local Boyes branch and in the motoring section you will find that they sell vfm large cans of spray silicon. We have the same issue with our window seals from time to time and the silicon does the trick and,as
already stated,it is excellent for the loo seal as well.Hope this helps.0 -
Thanks for the prompt replies. As I said, I've tried silicone, & it worked for a week or so. Same with talc & french chalk. Will try the Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber treatment Stevel. Appreciate any other tips in the meantime, thanks.

We had a problem with the door seal. I've had success with one application of talc but it's interesting to read of the other recommendations.

Thanks again for all your advice. I've tried most with limited success. The silicone spray was my preferred treatment, but the problem returned in a few days, so I ordered a tube of silicone grease, & can say it's solved the problem. I did ring a caravan
dealer who advised using petroleum Jelly, which worked well, but I worried about it degrading the rubber in time ? Our caravan now has the tube of silicone grease in its service kit !0
