hi all

my swift elegance 645 is less than a year old and the main control box situited under the bed has just failed ! unbelieviable ,  its a sargent 400 series and do not rely on the swift dealer network has you would with a car has we were less than 2 miles away from a main swift dealer and yes i am going to shame them it was HIGHBRIDGE caravans who woulsd not come out to site to us because they said we did not buy the van from them ! our dealer who was about 70 miles away from us came out about 3 times to try and find out and fix the problem which they did , also i would like to mention they also sent out a non swift dealer Northam farm caravans to us who also found the problem and then told our dealer Newport caravans what was wrong which they then came back down to us and fixed it , have made swift aware of its dealers who where not awilling to help .

if this was abroad however we would have been stuffed ! not bad on a 30k top of the range caravan ?

Swift, and probably other manufacturers can be pretty stingy with their workshop time allowances for warranty work. You don't need a Swift dealer to fix generic items such as Sargent power controllers. I think the core problem here was solved through the
assistance of the dealer who you bought it from, driving 70 miles to help you, why not name and praise them. Our dealer, who has now, sadly, gone into liquidation, had a reciprocal arrangement with other dealers to cover warranty work - I'm not sure how yours
    works.

Well when you are 200 miles from home with a major fault, do tell us how you feel about Newport caravans who have been reciprocally treated by other dealers and you can't get help with a warranty repair.

Should have contacted Sargents they are superb and probably sent a replacement by courier for you by the next day

..i must say that this would also have been my course of action (though i would have put my supplying dealer in the picture, too)...

Sargent have a great reputation for helping over the phone, if they can, and to ship spares promptly when required.

for other generic devices from the likes of Thetford and Dometic, youll find you may be able to get a home (or site) visit from one of their local repairers....both here and Europe wide...
