I wonder if anyone can help with a slight problem with our 2015 Bailey Barcelona – in connection with the external satellite dish connection.  I know there was a post on here some time ago, but I can’t find it.

I have an Avtex 24” DRS TV, Avtex  flat satellite dish with Easyfind technology and the van has a Vision Plus signal amplifier.  If I plug the satellite dish directly into the back of the TV, it works perfectly.  If, however, I connect it via the external satellite point on the offside of the van, it doesn’t work.  As per instructions from Bailey (published on here), I have disconnected the TV2 lead (the TV point I am using) from the amplifier – connected it directly to the lead marked with blue tape using a male to male “F” type connector but nothing happens.  I have checked the ‘blue lead’ back to the back of the satellite plug for continuity and it’s fine for both the inner core and the sheath.  The dealer has also changed the satellite plug itself, believing it was possibly faulty – so it should be working – but isn’t!

The technician at the dealership said that I should be connecting the satellite cable to the normal aerial input on the amplifier but since I am sure I have read on here that doing so runs the risk of damaging the amplifier, I deliberately haven’t done that.  In any event, the way I am connecting it should give a complete circuit from the dish to the TV.

Anyone got any ideas ‘ cos I’m baffled!!  It’s no big deal if I can’t get it to work but it’s a bit frustrating when it should be working OK. Many thanks - Richard

You should not be using the amplifier. When you connect TV2 directly to the blue lead are you getting power at the sat dish ? - you should be and if you are what you are doing should be working - are you sure the TV point you are using is TV2 ?

bb - thanks - that's a good point re the power to the sat dish - I will check that and thanks for the confirmation re not using the amp. Yes it is the correct TV point - checked by disconnecting the TV2 lead from amp when TV wired to normal aerial and the
    signal was lost.

Hi we have a Lexon 640 and an Avtex TV. on the sat conecction on the van the signal was intermitant sometimes you would have power to the dish sometimes not, so after a lot of messing about I put a new sat cable with f plugs in from the battery box to where
the Tv is. No more problems.Cable and conections quite cheap on e-bay.
