Cabbie, you could call any local Lunar dealer and see if they will sort out for you.  We brought our new Lunar in Sussex last year and had about 9 niggling faults, all sorted now.

All things that should have been picked up before it left the factory and, failing that, by the dealer before handng it over to you. Apalling.

All the more reason to spend many hours inspecting new caravans when collecting them......and to refuse to take it away until everything is sorted.

I fear it is unlkely that your dealer will come to you, although I agree that they should.

    Good luck.

We alway insist on a night or two, paid for by the dealer, on a site close to them when picking up a new van, so that should any faults arise they can be put right almost immediately.

Hope you get your van sorted pdq, cabbiemick.

Thing is you can inspect till 'the cows come home' but you won't pick up on everything.  When we picked up ours I checked all electrical components and the omni would work so the dealer put a new one in.  When we got home I tried it and it wasn't working.
We are now on our third new one.  Likewise after 2 months all the waste water pipework fell off.  I managed a temporary repair till we got home.  As Ian says the problems start with no Quality Control in the factory and the dealer not doing a thorough job
    of the PDI.

I am afraid the problems are typical of all UK built caravans. Accordiing to the Practical Caravan last survey your chances of getting one without fault is around 20 to 25% unless you buy an Eldiss and then it is just under 20%.

Whatever make you buy a faultless caravan is unlikely but there are one or two out there and we got two of them but realise we have been very lucky.

Inet resting post, I am suprised  that the quote on faults by Pratical Caravan is so low . By reading the posts on faults I would have expected the percentage to be 50/60 %. I think our caravan manufacturers should be ashamed at the quality they are putting
out. It seems whatever is posted nameing nearly all manufacturers they seem to take little notice. I have been relatively lucky with mine but would be very reluctant to buy another UK built caravan.

    That's very sad.

Apart from the body and some internal furniture all the electrical gubbins are "bought in" and just installed, so it is not always  the c/van builder who is to blame, as the majority of other fittings including the windows, are made outside the UKUndecided

.. True but in many cases they have a choice of supplier but I suspect price wins over reliability.

They may be bought in but it is still the responsibility of the manufacturer to ensure everything works as it should. Car manufacturers will often buy in brakes (such as Brembo), gearboxes (ZF) and tyres (various) but the warranty is with the car manufacturer.
When we collected our new Swift earlier this year we had all the factory paperwork showing all heating, electrics etc had been checked, dated and signed in the Swift factory.

a friend of mine bought an expensive used van and on first outing found that the water pump was not working so the alde heating would not work, clearly this was not picked up on in the PDI when it should have been, lowdhams of Huddersfield sent an engineer
armed with new pump to the site in York and replaced it, in my view that is good service, well done Lowdhams

It would have been even better service if they had fully checked the caravan and rectified all faults before your friend collected it.

Write your comments here...it would but no caravan comes away from a dealer without a fault, it's only fair to point out good after sales service

I found the PDI checklist tick box form blank and in the caravan pack. Difficult to believe the PDI was done at all.

Likewise. I even found the Lunar to dealer check-list in my new van. It was a NCR form with one copy to be returned to Lunar by the dealer.
