have a brand new Elddis super cyclone, just returned from a 1000 mile round trip from Llanelli to Dundee, first trip for the new van (motorway and dual carriageway all the way so no pot holes!) Have found a 31cm crack at hip level running from frame edge
to central part of rear shower wall, the fibre glass wall is slightly bowed and not flat to bulkhead, the shower has not been used and nothing stored in shower cubicle. being an aeronautical engineer I consider this to be a stress fracture and failure of the
composite material being too thin a guage.

Has any one else got the same problem? can assume similar shower cubicle fitted to storm and similar elddis models, how does Elddis handle this sort of claim?

I suggest you go back to the dealer immediately. As I understand it, your contract would be with the dealer

Agree, get it back to the dealer ASAP, let him deal with Elddis.

Elddis, not surprised. We had a brand new Elddis and nothing but problems for two years, the dealer did fix the faults but they just kept coming, one after another. Traded it in in the end. 30 years of caravanning 6 different makes, some of them much older
vans and we never had the problems we had with the Elddis - never again!

Not a pleasing read having just bought a new Eldiss myself!! Is there a decent caravan out there? All seem to have faults?

Write your comments here...We had two cracks in our shower but this was in the top near the spot light and in the cross member over the door, we were told by Elddis it would have to go back to them for fixing as the shower cubicale is a module and not made
of replacable parts. The place that serviced our van had imo a better idea and spliced a new piece of plastic over the door and cut a new section in the top cutting a new hole for the light. Forgot to say our van was a 2010 Buccaneer and three years old when
    the fault occured.

We had to have the shower cubicle cut out & replaced in our 2014 Affinity when it was 11 months old. Cracks in bare around waste.

Elddis were good in sending the shower supplier to remove & replace.

Seems as long as they can blame soneone else for their poor spec vans theyre happy but when panes crack .... 'pot holes impact damage Act of God anything to avoid their responsibilities

It is back to the dealers with a claim. You get reports of claims being dealt with well and others badly so I think most of this is down to the different dealers.

If the caravan is less than a month old you could reject it and ask for the money back because it is defective. If you take this option try the clubs legal helpline for advice of get a form letter of the Citizens Advice web site.

Hi there sorry you have trouble, however me too, we had a buckled shower wall on our brand new Elddis Avante Supreme 550 took over 2 months to repair, after Elddis agree to reapir the shower company who supply elddis with the units came to my house and fixed it there.  But really walls too flimsy still have issues with not the best design afraid.  Like everyone get it back to the dealer call them and keep on at them trouble is now Elldis on 2 week shutdown however once Elldis agree they comapny fix it well.

thanks to all for replies. Been to dealer they seem to be relaxed about the problem, saying ok we will send pics to Elddis, and they will sort no problem! either by sending new panels for them to fix "which they did for last customer" or Elddis fixing at
dealership. Sounds good at the moment, but it seems from threads I may be in for a long wait.! Agree the walls are so thin and easily buckle. off to France next week so will be on the look for more cracks!! hope not.

SO FAR..the shower on my 2 year old Avante is fine.  It is though currently in for its second damp issue, had to have a new charger unit, the cassette split (never had this happen in 25 years of caravanning....not nice!), the floor creak has never been properly
resolved, the microwave oven panel is warped, and there must be something else I have forgotten!  The dealer in fairness is trying to resolve things, and sadly I cannot afford to change it just yet.  But when I do, be assured, it will not be for another Elddis.
It has been the most unreliable caravan I have ever had.Frown

We bought an Avante new from Discover in 2009 and in the first year we had a water leak from the shower pipes the first day, the wash room door fell off the frame a few months later and in between we had numerous minor problems from screws and handles falling
out or being missing to the front locker door falling off when the glue holding the hinges failed in cold weather. Then the problems really started when Discover went bust. The first service found severe damp in the front needing a major reseal. In the next
3 years the only area not to be found damp was the back corner behind the shower but probably only because you cannot get behind to find it. I must thank Crossley Coachcraft who took on the task of servicing and dealing with Elddis to get them to authorise
the warranty works which they completed so well that at the end of the 5th year there was no damp or other problems and we could escape from an Elddis. No more Elddis caravans ever for us. Now own a Coachman which has just had second service with another clean
    bill of health

This trail relates to Elddis, but it could so easily be any of our other 'popular' manufacturers. Choosing a new van at the moment is akin to spinning the barrel on a revolver for another game of Russian roulette. The Caravan Club have let us all down by
not publishing the results of their leisure vehicle survey of 2015. Surely the results could not have been that bad?

Be warned if you let them fix it you cannot reject it. If it's cracked now how long before it cracks somewhere else. I would ask for my money back or expect to be without it for a few months while you try and get it fixed. Your contract is with the dealer
who supplied it so you have to go back to them and let them deal with Elddis.

If it faile again you can take it back under current legislation. Ignore guarantee wordings the law is far more stringent.

    Thanks to all respondents.

I took my pics of damaged wall to 3A's who promptly sent all details to Elddis, who must have passed them onto Plas-tech.

Plas-tech's Mr Clive Collins then contacted me to arrange repair at my home. At 0830 Wed 7th Sept Mr Kim Helliard arrived to repair the shower cubicle. He did a brilliant job explained every detail and left with no mess and a quality repair.

So all I can say is "the system worked for me" with no stress or dozens of frustrating telephone calls with none of the horrors reported by so many posts on many forums.

A big thanks to all concerned.
