Replacement caravan microwave

First Question.

I've got a Bailey Pegasus 524 (2010).  The factory fitted microwave has "died" and I need to source a new one. I've looked on the Bailey site and found that they charge the thick end of £150 for one which I think is a bit steep.(the exact same model is available from Amazon for <£70). Am I missing something here?

As to my second question..., Has anyone removed one of these old microwaves?  From examination of the housing it's not clear how you go about this. Has anyone any information or ideas?.

Many thanks,

Bob D.

    Hi,

Dont know if this is any help, but I noticed this week that my local Sainsbury's has the exact same model of microwave fitted in my Swift Kudos 530 and priced at £39.99!

Microwaves seem to be fairly standard size so it might be worth having a look. Mine has just been replaced under warranty.

Not sure if you can use any make, they see a fair bit of bouncing when travellin and this is probably why they fail. The Daewoo in our Lunar has soecific instructions for travelling and I do wonder if it is made for the job. It is over two years old and
    still going.

The last one in our Avondale lasted the six years we had it, but as it carried the Avondale name I do not know what make it was.

2010 interior equipment out of warranty, so get the one from the cheapest supplier. My 2015 clubman microwave didn't work from the start dealer repaced it under warranty from one off the shelf same make and model, not from Lunar, just shows the mark up from
    the manufacturers

I have a 2010 Pegasus 514 and my wife didn't like the manual controls on the microwave. I replaced it very easily with an almost identical Daewoo model with a digital control panel.

The plastic surround to the microwave is just secured at the base by an angled moulding fixed with three screws from the back. The oven is fixed with a couple of screws up through it's shelf. You might need to take the plug off to feed the power lead into the next cabinet but the whole job is very quick and easy.

The unit I fitted is "

Daewoo KOR6AOR Digital ECO Microwave, 800 Watt, 20 Litre - Black/Silver Handle" and currently costs £55 delivered from Amazon.

It's exactly the same size as the original.

Job done!  Quite an easy job. Only thing I'd add is you have to drill 4 very small holes in the base of the microwave. As long as you have a very similar microwave to the one you remove there shouldn't be a problem.

Ive just changed mine as like PeteCI - managment did not like the controls on the original fit.

Got one from AO - cost was something like £43 and free delivery!

I have just replaced my Microwave in my 2016 swift motorhome. The factory fitted item is a Cata BMSW20. A 20 litre microwave. After doing a bit of research i also found the identical model under the name of Baumatic BMIS 3820. And also Cookology BIM 20LWG. All as had to do is remove four screws to remove the additional fitting surround.  Which is fitted so it can fit in a larger space. Removing from the motorhome was quite simple. Remove the two screws in either side of the cupboard holding the top piece of wood trim. Then remove the top sliding piece of securing wood and then simply lift out the unit.
