Quick question.. will a 4W Solar briefcase keep my battery charged up while is storage?

Technical specifications:                      
Peak output power: 4W                    
Current (@max. power): 220mA                    
Open circuit voltage: 18V                    
Tested under standard condition: AM1.5, 100mW/100cm2@25°

    Highly unlikely as you will find that the alarm and tracker if fitted will consume more than this. Also dont forget that the output stated is in peak sunshine so cloudy day will only give you a fraction of this output and in winter next to nothing

    No, you need much more than this.

    For reliable year round topping up when in storage, I would look at a minimum of 40 to 50W output. You will also need a regulator with a panel of this size.

    Agree with Jeffcc that 4w is not likely to be sufficient. I use a 20w one if the van is not going to be used for a week or so and the battery is not fully charged on return to storage. This seems to work well.
