Temporary repair advice please.

Hello I hope you can advise me. I have a 2014 Elddis Avante 540 owned from new. I discovered a leak from the Seitz rooflight. Upon inspection this is a crack in the frame surround allowing water ingress. Dried the bed and covered the bed with a plastic sheet
to prevent damage. Another crack is also present at 180 degrees on the opposite end. So my question is what is best way to effect a temporary repair whilst Elddis decide and agree for a warranty repair?  Really annoyed as this was under 2 years old when discovered.
 Help and advice required.

Hi J.J .Try " Densotape around the outside of the rooflight. It's mucky, but efective for short time waterproofing. Hope this helps .

I would use waterproof duck tape. It worked on damage to the rear panel and a cracked shower tray for fairly long periods.

Looking at the width of the cracks I wonder if Captain Tolley would really be suitable as I have no experience with this product. Worth a try though and back this up with tape!

we had same problem with our heki roof light. We used duck tape as a temporary seal to stop water getting in until it was replaced under warranty. Our dealer, with Elddis agreement, inserted a timber subframe to fix the new roof light to as the original
failure was deemed to be due to lack of any flexibility...a case of the van being too SoLiD...  Our dealer says they've replaced numerous roof lights, it's a well known problem.

Hi yes I had heard the same. How long did your repair take overall?  More importantly did it work?

    Hi JetJockey,

The van was with the dealer for a week or so, as we had the cracked rear panel replaced under warranty at the same time, along with a replacement door fly screen.

However, there was a long wait between the original problems being spotted, getting a warranty claim agreed and the dealer finally getting the parts and then having a 'spare slot' to do the work.  the main reason for the delay was the rear panel, as the
rooflight is a generic component, I would've thought that it would be available 'off the shelf'...

We are currently awaiting a 2nd warranty replacement rear panel as the 1st replacement cracked again. This was identified at the van's annual service in March this year, the parts finally received in June and booked in for repair in August...it's not a quick
process I'm afraid.  Fortunately the van has been usable throughout this period and our dealer (who didn't supply the van) has been excellent in sorting our problems out and keeping us informed.

...If a timber support was installed it would be more likely that the foof flexed to much and not "SoLiD" enoughUndecided
