But that doesn't really contradict the standard pitching instructions given out by nearly all CC sites, does it?
In fact, all it does is confirm that you can go nose in or out in order to comply with the 'car / caravan / awning' instructions that we are all given upon arrival at a CC site.

Who is asking for contradiction? Goodness knows there's enough of that on here already. The whole point is that you can park rear in or nose in. That's all there is to it. Simples!

not that we have one, but if a 'euro' caravan reversed in (on to the peg) and deployed an awning, it would pitch awning, caravan, car.....
so, on one side it might result in awning to awning, and all the other car to car....would this be an issue?
certainly not to us....we dont have a car or an awning

I must agree with fully on this but for some awning to awning is an infringment of privacy

....interesting....as i said, not an issue for us, nor (i suspect other MH ers with no awnings)....but what of a caravanner...?
if the Euro caravan with an awning were on pitch first, and then a uk caravan van came along after and deployed their awning abbutting the Euro van, 'who' would be infringing 'whose' privacy, assuming either was feeling 'infringed'.

As TW has already said on this thread, reverse in offside rear to the marker or frontways in nearside front to the marker. Any warden that says otherwise should be challenged as we are all given the same brief. Any other pitching requirements should be discussed with the warden, as clearly stated in the club rules we all know so well.
What breed of outfit you bring to my site is of little interest to me, as long it's pitched correctly and the fire breaks laid down by the club are maintained, that is what the pitch markers are for.
Write your comments here...At last. Somebody who deals with the pitching arrangements every day who knows what they are talking about..
As I've said many times, wardens are the best people to advise this forum of the rules regarding parking on pitches on CC sites.

I don't have an awning so I am curious as to what goes on in awnings that requires privacy. And surely if the occupannts of both awnings are doing the same thing (whatever it is) then it is hardly a private matter?

I'm currently away on site in my van and only checking in once per day but here is a copy of the letter I hold and take around with me:
...I can confirm that on directly owned Caravan Club Sites the ruling accepts outfits either being pitched nose in or reversed on as long as the safety spacing requirement is adhered to. ...

I don't have an awning so I am curious as to what goes on in awnings that requires privacy. And surely if the occupannts of both awnings are doing the same thing (whatever it is) then it is hardly a private matter?
perhaps both sets of occupants could throw their awning open and get to know each other a bit better.....party on
seriously, even with the 'normal' pitching regime (car, caravan, awning) won't you get the situation where someone returning in a car would be able (not deliberately...) to peer into next door's awning.....similarly, those in said awning might appear to
be 'eyeing' those entering/exiting next door's car......a campsite is a crowded space, with non caravan items allowed to be within 3 m of each other. if privacy is the name of the game, try a CL with a bit more room.....or a hotel

...not sure i gleaned this from any post so far, Ian. the only reference was Corners who though some might see it a a 'privacy' issue...
if i had reversed in and it was a nice day and i decided to use my wind out canopy, i would be arranged canopy/van/space.
by the same token, a conti caravanner would obviously be arranged awning/van/car.
AFAIK, its the decision to park nose in or out that determines which side the awning goes, not the position of the awning dictating which way the van has to face....

I just had a look at the "dark side" of my 'van and I see there is an awning channel there as well! Surely that is the solution - turn the 'van whichever way one wants and put the awning on the appropriate side.

i dont have a full awning but i would expect folk to want direct access to it from the caravan door without having to walk around the van wouldnt they?
having said that, we have a large opening door on each side of the van.....

I do so agree with you, but this question has been going on for some time, probably when i first joined CT ( three years ago) and some did realy object to being awning to awning and it was a privacy issue, why I cannot understand

Is looking at the neighbours not what tens of thousands of curtain twitchers do all the time (sometimes as their only apparent caravaning activity)?

That's how we would be. Awning / canopy (whichever we choose to use ) Van Car
so we thought we might have to maybe line the awning width or canopy leg with the peg ,but it still could stop neighbours not having there usual privacy, awning to awning , if you have centre pitch with awnings either side of you wouldn't it be best to go on across so your car to the peg and awning to the front
giving everyone a degree of privacy just a thought 0 -
I think that the key point here for those with an offside door is consideration for others. So if you do happen to pitch next to someone who objects to being door to door, like IanH for example. You must be prepared to help
them to turn their van arround to alleviate the situation. That's what I would do0
