Electrics on Lunar Quasar 2 berth
I have a 2015 Lunar "Chilgrove" ( based on Quasar) With everything switched off my fully charged 90ah battery completely discharges in 9-10 days. (New Banner battery) , dealer says OK for modern vans, mainly caused by drain by alarm, poss radio and 12v
PCB on fridge even though everything ( except alarm) is switched off, I find it odd that this could happen. Second query, with all 12v switched on and light switch on control panel above door "On" all lights work, with panel light switch "Off", except for
two ceiling lights, all lights are still on, therefore the main switch only operates two ceiling lights. My dealer couldn't advise. Lunar do not answer my emails. If any Quasar owners could advise I'd be most appreciative.

I have a Quaser 4 berth and when the 12v switch is off on the control panel none of the 12v appliances work. I can't say how long the battery takes to discharge as I have it plugged into my mains at home all the time. I would say you have a faulty control
panel. If it's under warrnaty take it back to the dealers if not write to the makers of the control panel you might get a better response.0 -
Hi, I have an older 2 berth Lunar. It will drain the battery in the same time. It is the alarm and on mine the tracker even when both are turned off which will drain the battery. I fitted a 100 watt semi flexible solar panel last autumn and it has kept the
battery charged up when in storage. The lights on ours are different to yours, one has a two way switch by the door.0 -
I think the main light switch does indeed only operate the two round ceiling lights. As for battery drain then yes I would say that's possible unless you turn the main 12v switch off unde the offside bed locker, black push button this will isolate all 12v
systems other than alarm which should last months on its own internal battey0 -
I have found that if I fail to switch off the master switch the battery drains very quickly so the answer is switch it off.
The switch you refer to is only for the lights near the door. The idea is that you can switch these on at the light and off at the door when going out in an evening. When you get back if it is dark you switch them back on at the door to make life easier.

spk, I agree with your comments . I, at last , received a reply from Lunar Regional Sales Manager who states " the operation of your lights sounds correct, the two ceiling lights are mains, rest are 12v." Mmmm no comment. I haven't any mains lights
at all on my van.0 -
that is incorrect from lunar Imo. all of the lights are 12v and the reason for the swich is presumably as wildwood says. if you look under off side bed is a black button turn this off when stored to isolate all 12v and pretty sure your problem will be solved otherwise power will be consumed from various sources even though everything appears to be off.

Spk, just popped down garden and double checked, agree with you 100%, I may well have had 12v black sw on instead of off
One putt, Sussex Caravans IMO the best dealer I have come across, sales and workshop excellent, but, yes, electronics not a strong point.

It's difficult to tell if the black button is on or off. I double check by seeing if the TV aerial pre-amp has any lights on it in the wardrobe.

As long as you have the master switch off you should have no problem assuming the wiring is the same as ours.

Suffered a 1v drop between leaving the house and delivery of the van at the dealers.
The dealers advice was to switch the electrics off at the PSU, this is not practicable as the fridge will be off when travelling for holiday.

You should be able to turn the PSU on before travelling and the car should keep the fridge going and keep the battery topped up.

The fridge on my (older) Lunar is powered from the car irrespective of what is switched elsewhere

Have just bought a Lunar Cosmos 2017 and I have the same problem with lights. Only the two ceiling lights switch off at the control panel. Individual spotlights have their own switches but the under locker LEDs, the skylight spots and the two wall lights wont switch off unless you switch off the control panel. Spoke to Lunar and they said I should talk to the dealer. Spoke to the dealer who said they should be on a dimmer switch, but they are definitely not. He is contacting Lunar to find out if we are both missing something

Have located the secret buttons that control the lighting in the Quasar. Sitting on the doorside seat look up to your right, towards the door. There is a spotlight. Behind the spotlight there are two small switches that control the under locker LEDs and the skylight downlighters, and the two wall lights. Problem solved. Why not make it clear in the handbook which was of no help whatsoever !
