Just wondering if we might have cold feet with the Alde heating output all being waist high. Any views please

Just put your feet up. Relaxing is what it's all about. Wink

Thats all nice but you have not answered the straight question, which is simply given the high level output is it cold at floor level.

We used Aldi heating over the winter for the first time and found the heating to be very good, took about an hour to warm the van up from start up and yes our feet were warm, now a redundant pair of thick Latvian wool socks!! Good also on gas only using a 5 van site in February with no EHU and a hard frost every morning.

Alde was designed so the heat came from the floor level radiators, rose to roof level and then curved down to the floor again. It was the most even temperature spread I've ever experienced. Systems have changed but I dare say the efficiency remains. Try
it and see but it does need time to achieve full heat spread throughout the van.

you're Right Tinny, it is a very efficient system. As for the time taken to warm up both the air and the fabric of the van this is very true. However, my van has the facility to warm the system whilst on the road.

No problems keeping warm with Alde heating at foot-level or otherwise

Also very noticeable is the fact that the fixed beds and seats warm up more fully and quickly than in an air blown system. I assume because the radiators that produce the convection currents up the back of the seats / beds, also leak heat into the box sections
below beds and seats. The only down side is we no longer have anywhere cold to keep vegetables, other than the fridge.

We also find the heat spread to be quite even, unlike with blown heating where the rear of the caravan was always cold.

Limited experience since December, but very even heat, mind you the Alde underfloor heating keeps my feet warm.  I would think the Alde heating is very dependant upon the quality of the installation.  If a manufacturer skimps on the number of convectors
or puts them in positions where the air can't circulate for instance in a bed box where the likely hood they get covered with bending then the system is going to struggle.

Alde Heating systems arrive at the Caravan Manufacturers already built up leaving them only to connect them up. When the Manufacturers are producing a new model Alde are part of the design team with regards to where and how the Heating system will be fitted.
It takes Bailey 9 minutes to fit a Aldi Heating system  simple.

Presumably Alde supply the caravan manufacturers what they ask for.  Whether that configuration is optimal is open to question.  Hopefully the answer is yes.  Because caravan makers are famous for building up to a quality and not down to a price aren't they.

Originally, the sytem was designed to have false floors in the bed lockers, so that there could be a free flow of air, starting from the cut outs at floor level in the locker fronts. Unfortunately this may be compromised today, as the false floors are no
longer fitted, so the locker contents could impede the correct path for the air flow, particularly if full of bedding.

Worse, than impeding the airflow, when I looked in the bed box of a Unicorn the convectors were uncovered so very vulnerable to damage by anything placed in the lockers. Alde list covers for the convectors, not to fit them was IMHO an unacceptable example
    of scrimping on quality.

Admittedly this was a  couple years ago so whether the current model is the same I have no idea.

If you want to speed up the hear output of your Alde heating use the dual fuel setting so that the gas gives it an initial boost and then the electric takes over. The system depends on air circulation and works well but you need to avoid overfilling under
bed lockers etc which can restrict the air flow.
