Record Leak?
Took delivery of my new Bailey Pegasus Verona on Wednesday 6th April. Loved it!
Busy cleaning it inside, (even new, they're never clean enough for my mrs), Thurday 7th, heavy rain outside, when I thought I saw a drip. Surely not! But yes, small amount of water appearing in corner, by mirror.
My pride and joy was back at the dealers 20 hours after picking it up! Is this a world record? At least my old caravan had the descency of waiting 2 years before leaking.
Dealer very sorry. Bailey very sorry. I'm very sorry - They've got more than 19k of my money! They said they can have it back to me within one week - we'll see.

Why not use your rights under the new Consumer Rights Act and reject the caravan rather than have to get it repaired.
The new Act is far more powerful than SOGA, and will sort out poorly manufactured caravans. All the time people accept poor quality, there will be no change.

As a previous poster suggested, why dont you reject the Caravan as being substandard and unfit for purpose and demand another caravan in it's place.
As a CC member you could also seek legal advice from the CC's legal team on this matter.

I am not sure it is as easy as that. I understand it depends on the extent of the problem and the general principle is to give the dealer time to investigate and and oppotunity to repair. As Kennine suggests you could check with the CC's legal team.

Thanks for advice. Did think of just rejecting it, (and used it as a threat), but had to wait 3 months for this one (wanted atc option) and have hols booked already. God knows how long it would take to sort out replacement.
But free wine - now there's an idea!!!

If you mean that you could have the money back, I'd take it........

You beat us on time but I think we can overtake you on quantity. Took delivery of a new panel van about seven years ago and within two days all of rear door padding and seating near door was soaked from a leak around Heki. Back it went and dried repaired
etc only to leak again after eighteen months repaired again! Oh and then a roof locker dropped about an inch just behind my head whilst driving.0 -

We had a similar problem on our Unicorn. In heavy rain we spotted water running down the back wall. Turned out to be the high level brake light. Resealed in a few minutes by the dealer (we didn't even unhitch the van) and no problems since.

If you read what was found in what passed for the clubs survey report you will find some caravans did not even make it off the dealers premises. With some of the faults found on modern caravans it would take some doing to get a record. Probably a bare chassis
with the caravan forgotten is about all that is left.0
