Gas fire wont light

Have just changed van to a 2008 AbbyVouge carnt get the gas fire to light its the manual piezo type, the piezo cliks have changed gas bottle to a full one cheked all gas taps are on the piezo has two terminals one on the side and one at the bottom there is a wire to the side one but no wire to the bottom one is this normal.

    Does it need a new battery ?

    As I recall the bottom terminal should be coonected to the gas valve at the bottom of the ignitor rod..Wire should be thin with clearish insulation and will probably be lying somewhere at the base having become disconnected!

    You have turned on the gas supply at the minifold for the heating under the sink, haven't you?

    Thanks folks dsweetman was spot on the earth wire was missing alltogether made up a new wire fire lit first time thanks again.

    You say that almost as a joke - but seriously........

    Took my wife and her brother&partner to Glastonbury last year.  Everyone was smug about being able to have hot showers at Glasto.....

    Hot water wouldn't come on - it had always been temperamental, but never this bad.

    Turns out the shut off valve was "off".  I couldn't think how - we'd never once touched those valves - there's no need, its isolated by the (old type) regulator manually.

    Turns out, when I'd had a damp repair, the engineer had turned them off, and not quite turned that one back on.

     

    So we had a kettle full of hot water each for a sink wash! :)

    CoolWashing at Glastonbury ?   posh or what
