Lunar front locker caution

Hi, last year we got a 2008 Lunar 462; previous to that we stored our Aquaroll handle dismantled into 3 pieces in the front locker. When we did the same with the Lunar and arrived in Cornwall I found one side piece missing! I then discovered there is a long
slot open to the road hidden under the bottom edge inside the locker, big enough for long thin items to fall out of. The warden on the site had a spare which he kindly supplied for a donation to the charity they support. So beware what you store in the locker!!
Especially with a new caravan.

The other week I thought I would put the spare wheel in the front locker, after struggling to get it back under the caravan on the spare wheel frame. There is a wheel shaped well on the near side in the locker. I then found the spare wheel would not fit
into the locker; it was too large so I eventually had to get the caravan wheel up onto a block to get enough clearance to replace the spare underneath again, O the joys of caravaning....I only took it out to check the pressure as when serviced  the pressure
was very low and I wanted to make sure it was holding OK now -which it was. The saga continued as when running the caravan back off the block I forgot the steps were behind and squashed them slightly diagonal. I had not noticed they were not square until we
were away at Ferry Meadows Peterborough. We now have a nice new set of much more stable steps! The caravan survived undamaged.

Mishaps have a habit of escalating.

My Lunar's spare (175 13) goes into the well in my front locker Undecided I wonder if your 'van has bigger tyres/wheels? ..... I have
to remove the gas bottles fom their stowage first though.

Not found a big gap in our caravans locker but in any case we store the Aquaroll handle without dismantling it as it just fits.

I cannot get the spare wheel into the well without removing the gas bottles but as they are secure there I cannot see any point in moving them. I am not sure if the spare wheel might also have weight implications as you would be moving qxuite a weight from
the rear to the very front.

I had moved the gas bottle over but the tyre is too big in diameter ie it is too tall to fit in the locker, I managed to get it in but it jammed and it was a struggle to get it back out.

I have a Bailey and this also has a gap that small items could fall through. Previous van a Lunar also had gap, seems a general problem to be aware off.

Our old Abbey was the same, you just had to make sure anything like the Aquaroll handle were well pinned down. Never lost anything from there, just a side locker when we failed to close it properly.

What's an Aquaroll handle? I've got a hose that plugs straight into the caravan.

    Cool

I had the same problem and I made a long and narrow box which held all my small items that could have slipped through the slot. I made the box so that it fitted neatly in front of the gas cylinders

Won't  work unless you have a tap, or sometimes even if you have one if sub zero.

Not a lot of people know that, fortunately I do.

Write your comments here...The same thing happened to us in our 2007 Quaser 462. We now store it fully assembled and are careful with other items and where we put them !

So we are not the only one's it has happened to! Our previous van had wire mesh screens over any vent holes but the hidden slot in the Lunar front locker caught us out. We used to keep the handle assembled and in the shower room,of the old van but the new
one was so much posher I thought I would store it in the locker so as not to scratch anything.

Our Quasar has the mesh over the vent holes. I do wonder if the problem might be these are missing on the problem caravans. Should be easy to correct though.

Our Lunar locker floor has two rectangular vents covered by a grill in the middle of the floor area, but where the floor ends at the very front there is a small slotted gap where anything small could disappear, its as if it was "oops, I cut that a bit short".

My Abbey has a locker floor a bit like an island gaps all round as well as vents.  I lost part of the hitch lock that wayUndecided hoses could vanish too.
