Caravan is just over twelve months old and the alde fluid is rather low just on minimum when cold rises when heated but i still think it needs a top up, i went to my dealers today the only fluid they had was 5yr as my van is less than two years old it has
the blue fluid in 2yr the dealer told me they can be mixed ok but now im home i have opened it up it is pink surely you cant mix blue and pink fluid  any takers ? dealer correct or bad advice.

You are right in being cautious as by far from all of these fluids mix without issues.

However, there are some 5 years products that do and the dealer might well be right in what he is saying about the product he sold to you.

The "safe" ones meet VAG [VW] specs G12++ and better still, G13. These mix without issues in almost every case. The Alde brand product meets one of these specs. The suffix ++ after G12 is important, G12 without suffix should not be used.

If in doubt let us know what you have been sold and we can do some googling to try and find out; or simply ring the maker and ask.

Safe to go then and the dealer has looked after you.

Ideally mix some up with "deionised water" 50/50% *, though if you have to use tap water just for topping up don't lose sleep over it. Don't fill more than halfway between the low and high marks when cold, it will only spit the excess out when getting really hot.

    * This assumes the product is concentrated and not "ready to use".

Alde's own pink fluid can be used with both pink and blue. I purchased a litre bottle and had to use most of it after my dealer replaced the original fluid during a service.

Top up in small doses and check the level when the fluid is hot as it will burst out of the top if you put too much in the holding tank.
