Damp Meter Usage

Hi Everyone.

Purchased a new Bailey Pursuit 430/4 and whilst I hope I don't get any problems thought it prudent to make regular checks with a damp meter. However, will I end up with pin holes everywhere or are these meters sensitive enough that you just place the prongs
on a surface rather than having to push them on?

I use a damp meter on my van and find that by lifting the rubber seals around windows and checking carefully like this it vertually elimanates the pin hole effect although you will need to make sure the probs are into the fabric of the van.

Well worth the time and trouble as I detected a small area of damp and had it treated strait away, it turned out to be a small area of sealant that needed replacing, 'a stitch in time'.

I will! If you want one for £10 you might still find one in LIDL.

From what I understand the only location to be damp checked on a new Bailey caravan is around the perimeter of the floor.

As long as you don't do what the idiot who looked at my van last week did. he put the meter at the junction of the side wall, rear panel and floor...... On the outside...... In the rain..... He declared the meter was off the scale (I would have never guessed)
and therefore the caravan had damp so he wasn't buying.....

It's going to take him a long time to find a dry caravan adopting that method of damp testing
