How long will gas last?

We arrived at Chatsworth CC Site this afternoon to discover they are having a problem with their electricity. It was on all afternoon but only at a low wattage. There wasn't enough power to boil the low wattage kettle or get much more than mildly warm air
from the heater. However, it has gone off completely now so we have switched over to gas. I think we have about half of a calor lite bottle left but I am wondering how long this will keep the heat going for.  Any guidance would be much appreciated as I'm not
sure when the electric will be back on as they have had to send out for a generator.

Many thanks

Heather

I have just searched the calor website for you

    Jet Service station, Haddon Road, Bakewell, DE45 1AW, 01629 812 887

    Torne Valley Ltd,  Haddon Road, Bakewell, DE45 1AW, 01302 756 000

Both near the show ground, don't know why the phone codes are different

Greenhills Leisure Ltd, Buxton Road, Bakewell, DE45 1PX, no tel no

See my other thread about power outtage at Chatsworth which now seems to be "error". Generator arrived and power now restored.  Wardens were not sure if shower block would be up and running in case there was any damage to the pump. Loss of power about 2
    hours or so.

Glad that power has been restored. I would like to bet that a few of the caravanners were getting a bit concerned as some may never had to use gas for heating or for the fridge.

On the question of gas consumption we consistently found in summer that a 6 kg calor would last exactly a fortnight running the fridge, heating the water when required and cooking. In winter when off a hook up we found in temps down to freezing, our Alde heating system could empty the samer size cylinder in  3 days. We are now on Safefill being heavy users of gas when not on EHUs.

I've started a new thread about Chatsworth as the error still applies. The warden has just knocked on our door. Very limited power to part of the site with some pitches still not having any electricity. No water as the pumps are not working.  Sorry state
    of affairs really.

It's a bit worrying when you suddenly have to use gas. When we tour the continent we only use about 1 kg per week and that includes frequent gas BBQ but hot water and occasional heat on electric (1kW is usually enough), however, one year we had a problem
with the fridge electrical system and switched to gas. The usage increased noticeably and after a week I began to get concerned about running out before getting home.

Heating is the biggest problem and if it is cold weather you will use a lot of gas. I would guess in the current weather (not too cold) you might use 1 kg per day but that figure will vary enormously.

You'll have to ask for a refund, tomorrow.Wink Hope that your water barrels are filled up.

We're on a service pitch!  What does surprise me is the lack of info from Grimstead Towers. Surely they have someone "on call" who should be posting information updates?  My wife has gone home already as we're only 40 minutes away.  See what happens in the
    morning.

Never mind the gas, if you have a Truma combi boiler and have to use your battery becuase there is no power your battery will soon go flat and the heater wont work

Good news from Chatsworth. Power and water are back on this morning although no hot water in the shower block as the warden can't get the boiler to fire up.
