Hi,

I was hoping to find someone who had one of these and/or someone who knows about them.

We're looking for a 4-berth side-dinette van with a laden weight under 1,400kg, and this seems to be a good fit and we've seen 3 examples in the last few days at various dealers in the North East.

The last one we saw was a 2005 model, and appears almost spotless - on for £6500.

Does anyone know of any positives or negatives on these vans?   Anyone know any technical information that I can ask about - I'm struggling to find much online about it.

Thanks,

Peter

What do you want to know?  A friend has one about that age.

No problems at all as far as I know

    Generally, are they good vans?

Well made, anything to look out for?

    Any problems living with one?

Is the blown heating system electric or gas or both?

    Is the bed comfy

    Anything really ?

Very happy with theirs indeed. No damp and nothing has broken. Bed is fine but a topper makes a big difference on 10 year old upholstery. Their heating is gas and electric as is the water heater.

They don't rate the oven but they can be a bit hit and miss.

We have an Adria 2006 - different model, but we're more than happy with it!**  Ours has a fixed bed, and the mattress is still very comfortable (with a topper like those friends of JayEss).

We keep it permanently on a site not far from home, and go over there as much as we can.  It winters well (although covered) and in March 2016 we've just opened it up for 2016 and it smells just as sweet and nice as when we put it to sleep for the winter in November.  We hope to go back this weekend - in fact were going to stay overnight tonight but the weather wasn't good enough!

Our blown air works on both gas and electric, and is very efficient when we stayed over at the end of last season (when it was very cold outside).  Ours is the model built for the British market, with a door on 'the correct side' (we have another van which we keep in France which has a wrongside door!).

They're good solid vans, and I would recommend Adrias to everyone.  All the fixtures and fittings still function, we have no dropped doors, or other problems (apart from one of the original rooflights, which we're just about to replace with a mini-Heki - waiting for good weather) but apart from that it's in really good condition.

**The only thing I would say is that the price you're being asked seems high for an eleven year old van.  We bought ours two years, and paid quite a bit less than you're expecting to pay, two years ago, and it is a year newer than the ones you're looking at.   It was absolutely immaculate when we bought it, with the exception of a modification to the wardrobe, and had it also a motor mover.  (Although it's a different model of course)

I've looked at prices for Adrias, and they obviously hold their value well because the price you quote seems to be the norm.  We obviously got a real bargain two years ago but I didn't realise just what a good buy it was.

Thanks ValDa!  Very helpful post & JayEss too

Yes, I thought the prices of all 10 year old vans was very high, especially as I'm looking at the budget end (budget also = light, which is the crucial thing for me).  Considering this van was about £11,250 brand new, its amazing that 10 years later, they're
    worth over 50%.

I'm going to see a Bailey Ranger today which just happens to be about a mile away, and if we don't like that, I'm going to ask our local caravan workshop to go and take a look at this Adria for us for an inspection (I totally don't believe any dealer who
has a vested-interested in a sale - possibly unfair of me, but I'm sure I was burned last time round).

They are very desirable for the reasons you are keen and Adria second hand prices are higher than they were a few years ago when we were looking for one

Having owned a Bailey Ranger in the past I would be more interested in the Adria

They are well made caravans (and motorhomes - we've had two Adrias, no problems with either). If you're buying a 2005 caravan the Adria (or a German 'van) will be a better bet than a UK made one (a pity, but true)

    very interesting comments.

Having seen the Ranger today, I'd be happy to buy either - so now it comes down to who will agree to get an AWS workshop to provide an inspection report.  If they both do, and they both come back clean, I'm tending towards the Adria - The internal space
was fantastic, and I'm intreiged by the awning heater!!!  (Daft, but I can't help it)

    Hi,

We had a Adiva 532LD - 2004.  It was a great van, good build quality, very practicle - we loved it.  There was aoutlet from the blown air heating to the awning - tried it once but ineffective, though do not be put off by this.  Would have no hesitation in
buying another Adria of the right one came along at the right time.

    Cheers

Having bought one in October I must say we were very impressed with it as soon as we opened the door.

It doesnt have the feel of a 10 year old van. Good layout and solid build.

    Very good find and purchase.

I wonder, did you try closing off the vents inside to increase the throughout to the out side vent?

We have blown air heating at home, and we use this method to control it.
