Water leaking into front locker
Have noticed water leaking into front locker of two and a half year old lunar stellar. Concerned about delamination of floor.Seemed to have started after replacement front windows, under warranty. I must admit I cannot see how that could cause a problem. It
seems to come from the centre of the locker door. I dont think it is pressing up against the rubber seal . Would another lock fitted in the centre help? Any other Ideas.

Regarding your concerns about delamination, my locker floor is separate from the caravan floor so a problem with the locker floor shouldn't transfer to the caravan floor. Also I think my locker floor is either plastic or coated so can withstand getting wet.
Next, if you think water could be getting in via the lock, put a small piece of white gaffa tape over the lock and see if the leak stops. Does your locker have a gas strut that could be affecting the rubber seal? Just a few ideas for you to consider.0 -
Thanks for your reply, no, the water is getting between inside face of the of the door locker panel, and the rubber seal around the frame. Yes ,have checked locker floor is separate from main floor and it is , and it is coated. I was concerned about
delamination, so thats a relief. Thank you0 -
Must be a Lunar thing, my locker door closed nowhere close to the seal. I have adjusted the lock arms to maximum which has taken the door in quite a bit further but ideally I would like to do the same at the hinged end but no adjustment (yet) so still not as good as it should be. As said the locker floor is waterproofed and separate

Yes Dave I have adjusted arms to maximum, but I still dont door is resting on rubber strip when shut. I taped a rubber tap washer to inside of of each arm, which seem to help a bit. Van going for annual service on thursday, so I am going to mention it
to them, not expecting much joy though. Keep you imformed. Helps to know the locker floor is separate.0 -
Gas Locker compartment is not intended to be a watertight compartment see your own handbook or on line Lunar 2016 handbook page 43 under "services". As per previous post floor of gas compartment is separate and there is (in mine) plenty of openings at the
base of the locker for water (and gas in the event of leakage) to escape.0 -

Any other Ideas.Write your comments here...Although I don't have a Lunar, I had water getting past the seal in the exact centre of my front gas locker...Swift had made the 2012 with a lid that had two locks but they were positioned at extreme left and right sides of the
lid...This caused a bow effect in the middle and so insufficient pressure was pushing against the beading seal so road spray got in on every outing..After much complaining (there was a lot of Swift owners with the fault) , we got replacement lids with the
locks a lot closer together and this cured the problem....Look back Club Togeter reports from Scottie 2 about 12 months ago for full details from start to finish....Hope this helps.0 -

complete seal against the rubber beading surrounding the frame thus stopping road spray entering.0 -
Apology due to my thread...Watertight was used in wrong context and I meant water resistant in that no water should be able to enter the front gas locker lid as the seal should be such as to be a tight fit....the locks have to be positioned in the correct
places especially if the lid has been designed to have a curved body style...If the locks are too far left and right the pressure in the centre is too little to keep a seal.0 -

Caravan in for service at moment, I also told them of the Bow effect, they agreed . and are going to fit a bracket at the centre , to push the Bow out( from the inside), Have been told in previous post that it is normal
not to be water tight. I think thats a cop out statement by Lunar. Had van for 2years with no problem. No mention from caravan dealer that it is not water tight.0 -
Swift didn't own up for quite a while about the water getting past the seal...At first they wanted to get dealers to fit a third lock in the centre of the lid but owners realised the lock was going to be off-centre as there wasn't enough space for it to
be in the centre...On hearing this, the owners rejected this option from Swift and we demanded new lids from the production but with the original two only locks position much closer together....This was done and problem cured....I have met several owners
with caravans suffering the same problem but not all dealers bothered to get involved with Swift to help their customers ....I was lucky as my dealer did get involved.0 -
So the thing is how do you or have you over come this? My Elddis Mistral lets in enough water to be annoying. Have added some stick on seal like you use for windows etc but it is a bad design when the gas locker door bows in the middle to let the water run in and expect the seal to work.Water does not work like that.
