One of the gas rings on our caravan hob won't stay lit even after holding the knob down for a long time. Tried cleaning it but to no avail. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks in advance for any help

The problem is with the Flame Failure Device (thermocouple).

It might simply need its position adjusted; or the (electrical) connection tightened ..... or it may have failed.  Should be a relatively simple/cheap job.

Hi Stewart, It sounds like the thermocoupling has gone, and probably needs replacing. What age caravan is it

It's a 1998 ABI Dalesman. All the other gas rings fine with good  sized flame. the front right ring has o small flame and won't stay lit. Same with grill. It won't stay lit either but not an issue as we won't really use it anyway

Now you have thrown in additional info!  This suggests that there is some sort of restriction in the gas supply to that ring and also to the grill. In each case if the flame if not adequate the thermocouple will not function.

Can only suggest you get a suitably competent person to investigate.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Will investigate this with local dealer.
